Window net
« on: January 29, 2021, 04:16:15 PM »
Hi. I run in the REAL STREET CLASS with a 1993 mustang.     I?m looking for a little clarification on the requirements for a full window net . How much of the window/door must the net cover ? I can send a photo of the rollcage construction. I can?t seem to be able to post one.
And any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks. Wendell

Imagine no door there , you want to cover that hole completely ..  If door came off you want to be retained , legs , arms , hands  ..   STEVE

Steve -- But this question is for Loring, and your good SCTA answer may not be the one they're using.

If you look in the rule book you'll see the roll cage includes side bars that keep you from getting out of the lower part of the door, but the upper part is where you get into the car. That is where you need a net, hence the term WINDOW NET. If the Loring rules don't require a full cage with side bars then you need a complete door net

The rule Book is showing a picture of a caged car with a net   Top to bottom of the door opening.
I?ve seen cars with a net down to the side X bar
so this is what I?m wanting a little clarification on

Steve has it right.... regardless of the rule you are looking at... you want to stay inside the protective cage.
You did not mention how fast you go, speed determines requirements... all those are minimums...  so if you are required a net or arm restraints, you could do both... it's your arms... and legs
If you don't have lower cage bars that keep your legs in then you need a door net... can your legs come out?
So all the answers are correct... for any LSR org... safety is what's driving the rules... your safety

Build a safe car. Don't do it because the rulebook wants you to do it. Do it because your wife doesn't want to go your funeral. Simple as that.

Thanks for the responses to my question.
I was hoping someone from LTA would answer my question.
As their rule book shows a full net with the side bars  I have X bars on the door opening.  As for class n speed. I run a street class 150 mph with a full cage and fire suppression system.
So before I order a custom net I?d like to know
Thanks again guys.

Sorry, I didn't see this thread until today.

I'll get someone from the car side of things to check in and clarify for you.

The window net purpose is to keep the driver and the drivers arms inside the car should the vehicle roll over ... Send me a photo of what your are proposing please.

I?d like to thank everyone for the input!!
Now I?m looking for some pictures of how you?ve mounted one of these large window/door nets
I?ve installed the regular sized window nets in race cars !
Thanks again you guys are the best.
