The Juggernaut seems quite ridiculous in length, until I park it next to my Drag Bike.

And, I've always felt the seating on the Drag Bike was 'cramped' and I'm only 5'4"!

Just posting these pics because, in the end, I am shooting to have the LSR bike to be only 7-8" longer than the Drag bike & I'm pretty sure I can keep it "that small".

Ah, but you lived. Ergo, you're 99% of the way there.

Doc B!
Ain't that the truth!  "Didn't kill me... must be OK!"
 :friday

I don't know what I was thinking... very first time figuring out how to clutch and low speed ride it and the very first thing I attempt is a U-Turn?!?   :?  Something I'll have a MILE radius to do on the Salt.

It's fun and funny looking back at that video now.  I promise I'm much better at riding her now.

** Not The Race Bike **
« Reply #65 on: January 22, 2021, 07:00:21 PM »
Again, just wanted to be clear that:  This is NOT the Race Bike!
If you haven't already, please go back and watch Episode 3 for the explanation.

Thanks!

What?  Someone wants to talk Choppers?!?
 :clap

Chop Zuki was the first bike I ever built.  She was a barn-find rolling chassis I drug out of Elmira, NY.  Old Santee frame with a P&P Girder that I spliced into the frame of the '79 GS1000E I had at the time.   I built that bike from nothing, when I knew absolutely nothing about motorcycles or how they worked.  I think that was my 3rd or 4th time shooting my own paint too.  It's because of this bike that I can close my eyes and "see" the wiring diagram for a 70's Suzuki.

NYC:

At the top of the Philadelphia Art Museum steps (where Rocky stood)

I rode that bike all over the place.  This is me going over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel on a trek from NJ to the Outer Banks, NC.

Then I moved from NJ to CO.  All of a sudden, my bike - jetted for Sea Level - didn't run so good a Mile (or more) high.  So, I did what *everyone* does right?  Instead of fiddling with the carb jetting, I just found a complete GS1100E motor, with carbs (already jetted for altitude) & wiring harness for $400.  The next weekend, she had no trouble climbing the "hills". ;)

I rode her like that for another 30k miles, but then got the urge to build her different, so out with the girder and onto a 5-1/2-Foot-Long Springer.  A "proper chopper" as I liked to call her;  10-foot long, 50? rake, left foot throttle, so with the King & Queen seat I could lean back and ride her no-handed for miles on end.  I logged another 10k miles on her in this form.

In 2016, she gave up her heart so I could build a Production Bike to chase the AMA 1350-P-PC record.  Then, in 2018, I used that engine for the 3000-A-CG GloWorm.

After 4 years of being torn down so I could pursue different LSR records, I picked up the FJ's to build The Juggernaut and now I'm building a whole new frame for my Chopper, using only square and rectangular tubing.

"Freakhouse Customs" is my imaginary bike shop that only exists in my head, because I'm my only customer. LOL!

Sorry for the non-LSR content, but I got a new set of carbs for the Drag Bike! :)

Taking any and all tire recommendations.  I'm primarily going to run AMA at The Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials, but -one day- I would like to attend Speed Week or World Finals.  My target speed is 188.007mph.

The FJ came with a 150/80-16 stock, I could probably bump that up to a 160?  The wheel is a 16 x 3.50

So what's out there that will handle the speed I'm looking to run?  Of equal importance would be what tires to avoid, where many folks have had bad experiences with them.

Just about any M/C Z rated tire will be fine at 188mph. Bridgestone is the most popular. The harder the compound the better if you get a choice. Just avoid soft drag racing tires like Shinkos, they will just fly apart. I know that for a fact!

Excellent!  Thank you!
I definitely remember reading something you posted about avoiding the Shinko's & I will definitely heed that advice!

A "W" rated rear tire might be a good idea to give some extra speed rating to account for wheelspin.

Matched sets of Bridgestone Battleaxe sport touring tires is what I have used for the last decade.  No problems with any of them.

Thank you for your advice, sir!
I had great success with the BattleAx on a few of my bikes, I will be putting them on "The List"!

This time around, we go International!
All the way from Across The Pond, BMST's own Comet lent me a hand with this week's episode.

I'm getting more comfortable riding the Juggernaut & having much fun in the process.
