Mike ?

Please (if you can easily) put that in another format.  I've run out of charcoal.

We just received word that former S.C.T.A. President and all-around good guy Monte Wolfe passed away at the beginning of November. Bummer. Monte was also a member of the prestigious Bonneville 200 mph Club having run 253.88 mph back in ?72 and later upping his speed to a jaw-dropping 299.152 mph. For the last few years, Monte has lived in Pahrump, Nevada, and visited the lakes from time to time to keep up with the dirt. Our heart goes out to his family and friends. Here?s one of his early rides called the Wolfe-Johnson-Speedcraft Class A Lakester seen on the trailer at the beginning of the 25th edition of Speedweek in 1973. Driver Monte sat up front while a blown 392" Chrysler resided in the back. The class record stood at 270.885 mph and was set by Shipley-Johnson back in '69. We have Monte running second in class in the car with a speed of 214.79 mph behind the Leggitt & Robbins-Mike Cook ride at 250.34 mph so the record remained unbroken.⁣

Thanx, Mike.

Monte was a terrific guy.  I'm sure all that knew him would agree.
