Harley Front Wheels
« on: November 24, 2020, 01:32:20 PM »
Here is one for all you Harley techs out there. I am converting my 2003 Sportster 19 inch front wheel to run as a rear. I have another front Harley wheel that is thought to be either a 1988 or 1994. Will either year fit my 2003 Sportster as a front wheel?

TIA,
John

Please use shouldered bolts for the sprocket...........almost anything is possible on the front if you don't need a brake.....

John, there is a big shortage of rear tires with high speed ratings for 19-inch rear rims.  There are some flat track race tires but those bikes do not go as fast as land speed ones do.

I should have been more specific with my request.

I was given a 2003 XLH 883 Hugger that I want to make into a street tracker. I was also given a 1994 19? front wheel that does not work with my J&P front wheel conversion adapter kit to make into a rear wheel. So, I was wondering if the 1994 front wheel will work on 2003 forks and rotor disc.

Sorry for the confusion.

I found a near perfect year 2000, 19 inch narrow glide front wheel that works with my Vulcan front to rear wheel adapters. This wheel has 1 inch axle bearings so Revzilla helped out with reducer bushings to 3/4 inch. This allowed me to retain the stock 19 inch front wheel on the bike now.

Stainless, I need an engine to finish everything that is left. Anybody?s guess when that happens. Besides, the good weather is over and I need something to keep me out of trouble over winter months.
