Jon, the broadcast is great. One thing- non-USA listeners may not know that the speed numbers you report are in MPH, not kM/H. You might mention "MPH" now and then.

Thanks for keeping us informed.

Wow, listening to the broadcast and they are talking about no line on course 1 on opening day. That  is a big indicator of the small amount of competitors compared to a normal year. Stay safe everyone and go fast.

I?d agree with DW230. Other than our inspection team I?d say quite a few are ignoring the use of a mask by the photos on Bangshift..... they all must be younger than me...

Just as Speed Demon was about to make its first pass, someone came into my office and started talking to me.  I didn't hear the speed?

Can anyone post the speed for #715?

Thanks,

Steve.

380mph Mile 4 on a check out pass. All systems checked out and they are servicing the car for another run in a couple of hours.
Second run was 447 on a 417 record. 455 exit speed.

There is a many page article on the AA engine built for Speed Demon in HR magazine this month and the reasons they could finally get a BB engine between the frame rail structure. A lot of info for those ?need to know?.

There are 9 vehicles in impound, and the Speed Demon ain't one of them.  The impound guys told me that the SD turned down impound 'cause they'd have only 2 hours (before pit closing at 8) and they need 4 to refresh it.  If there's fire damage - that's sure a good reason to go to the pit.

The 832 Eyres roadster is in impound, the Guthrie Levie 350 SCS is there, a couple of cars and bikes that were tarped.  I'll get the list and speeds tomorrow morning before I go on the air.

Don't forget that return runs will probably start running around 8 and will be done in a half hour.  I'm gonna shower and shave - back later with more stuff.

Further still:  Danny Burrows posted that the 715 car hurt #4 hole at about the 3 1/2, so that 447 mile/455 back door was on 7 cylinders and a light tuneup.  Danny says that they now feel that'll be a 480-490 mph motor - next time.  For now they're putting in the A motor for tomorrow.

Does anyone have the control frequencies?  I tried a lot of scanning last year and could not find the frequencies.  This year I brought an SDR radio and a couple of pieces of software and nothing.  I have tried everything from 450 to 470 Mhz.  I even tried up to 485 Mhz which used to be used by NHRA but it is now a TV band.

Listening to the control radio frequencies was important for me when I was doing the NHRA blower belt stuff (NHRA used to give me the main frequencies -- and they were sometimes published by racing radios), and I got very used to enjoying the control chatter.

Thanks
