I've lost count - how many +400mph runs has Poteet recorded this week? Astonishing stuff

I make it 8 (and I am trying to keep track).

George Poteet has made about 50 of the about 130 runs over 400mph. Plenty of uncertainty in the 1990-2002 timeframe. It?s hard to pin down exactly how many runs Al Teague, Nolan White and Don Vesco made.

I'll weigh (way) in on the #118 post if I may. As a person that believes I've probably gone as cheaply per MPH in two motor sports as any one ever has, I have huge respect for George Poteet.
You have to be WAY smart to form a team of employees in a business that makes you a success and enough money to race at a high level. There have been many people that have come to Bonneville (and all other forms of racing) with loads of money that have fallen on there faces. I can think of a few that are doing that right now!!!! I've said it before and I'll say it again, George Poteets genius is in his ability to surround him self with capable people that get the job done. I'm a little shocked that anyone thinks he only comes to the track and just sits in the car and that's it. Not very insightful. More then anything I respect him for the fact they named a future king of England after him.

Speeddemon IG comment this morning as they were pulling the 555 to install the E motor was that the 555 had made 11 passes, 9 over 400

By looking at Speed Demon's times they have not reached the full potential of this engine. They could try increasing the gearing until the engine bogs down. Then they might know it's full potential.

Hey Slim,
I had to step away for a minute...well a half hour.  Someone texted me that Electraliner ran again with a different driver...got 229.  Is someone playing with me??  Or do I just have heat stroke

Just to be perfectly clear, in the early 90's I built an alcohol dragster with a $25000 line of credit. Except for a Mark Williams rear end the rest of it was used cast off that no one else would use. Never bought a new pair of tires. Bought eight run used slicks  from Walt Austin for $100. Even bought used blower belts. Won races set track records and parked my 24 ft. long trailer next to those huge semis in the pits and sent them home crying. I took 4 1/2 years to build an E bay and swap meet lakester that didn't cost to much more then the dragster. By the way, the dragster was 2 piece so I had to bolt it together at the race track after getting there in my 24 ft trailer. Not one thing I've just said causes me the least amount of embarrassment because I'd rather race on the cheap then not race at all.
I am in the brother hood of bucks down racers and proud of it. That certainly doesn't mean I have no appreciation or respect for some one who can afford to do it right. He also brings some much appreciated attention to a dying sport. The 2 or 3 other AA stream liners in the pits sure didn't do much entertaining while I was there.

We all know that George has the means to do what many of us can only dream of, nothing wrong with that at all. What bothers me is that some here seem to think that the only reason he does so well is because he has got the money, which cannot be further from the truth. I can tell you from first hand experience that this guy would give any of you at the salt the shirt off his back if it would help you make just one more run when your there. We were in some trouble trying to get the car ready in the time for the return record run when George and Ron came over with their entire crew and said what can we do to help, never asked for a D*** thing in return. With out that help we would not have been able to set the record. I've seen him lend any part or help he has, if it will help anyone at the salt, Just the way he is. Ron was the same too. That's just part of the reason he does so well IMHO, he is the real deal when it comes to being a racer.

I understand George?s entire cockpit went dark after he began his run this morning including shift lights. If it is true, I have no doubt with who told me, I have one more reason among the hundreds to respect Mr. Poteet?s ability to accomplish what he and his team do.

Post from Electraliner...
So here's the latest....
EV WEST turned the motor down to 40% hoping I wouldn't get the record....but I did.....now after we all packed up and left they went back with different driver they found days early to take my record away, giving the new driver 100% power.
Incredibly disappointing after I designed the whole car, frame, and built the body plus a dozen other things......
Oh well, I cant fix evil
