You're going to be sorry that I beat you to this. I'm going to go out on a limb and make an outrageous prediction. At a FIA event on good salt, 500 mph, NO WORRIES.

Speed Demon seemed to respond well to the lower corrected altitude (good air for HP) with no ill affect from the denser air. I am extremely happy for an older fellow that has been a hot rodder all his life and is realizing his ultimate dream. Congratulations to George Poteet

"2016 vs 2020
Seems to have made some improvement!"

Is that comparing A/pples to AA/pples?  I surely don't know.  I do think he's taken fast time with a variety of sizes.

Looking at Woody's chart and assuming that there are not aero changes to the car, going from 429 mph to 469 mph would require about 30% more horse power and having read the engine article in Hot Rod an increase of 30% more horse power is not out of the question. However going from 470 to 500 would require an additional 20% in horse power. Makes you wonder how much boost they ran on the 470 run.  Still very, very impressive!!

So how about Bolivia? With air that thin 500 would be a warmup run. Order those aluminum wheels on your way home George.      LSL

If they replicate the 481 mph going into the 6 mile on a FIA course in Bolivia (no worries about getting slowed) they have to pick up 20 mph to hit the MAGIC number. They picked up over 30 mph between the 4 and 5 in the heavy (5800 ft) air of Bonneville. The thin air of Bolivia (probably over 12000 Ft corrected) along with the ability  to just turn up the boost in order to recover the HP would make for the perfect conditions. Kenny would have learned enough about what the big engine likes to tune it to perfection. One thing that hasn't been discussed has been tire compound. According to what Marlo told me the Difference in the Goodyears is huge. He would smoke a pair of Mickeys on every run but the Goodyears showed no wear after 4 runs. Speed Demon has Goodyears in the front so no brand loyalty. I think the Goodyears offer better traction and therefor wouldn't be down to the cord at the 3 1/2 mile.

Looks likes eyres and son have qualified again in e/Bgr if I read their speed right on the results and van prothero (glad to see him back) in b/prod.....

It's also great to see the 218 XO/BGR with a straight 8 Buick set one over 170. Would have been unheard of years ago. They put over 20 mph on the old record.
