Jack Costella
« on: January 03, 2020, 05:01:44 PM »
I am sad to report Jack Costella passed away several hours ago.

He was a good friend and great innovator.

Glad he was able to make the trip to Bolivia with us.

Around 2003 I took my then 12 year old grandson to SW. We went around the pits and a lot of guys had Carl sit in their race cars, including the Phoenix. Always with a warning about chute release. I had never met Jack but new of him and his cars. When we got to his pit it was just Jack and his liner. I asked if he was Jack Costella and he gave me this "who wants to know" look and says "yeah". I said "I wanted to introduce my grandson to the most innovative guy at Bonneville. Less than 2 minutes later Carl was sitting in the liner  telling Jack he knew about chute releases and Jack pointing out everything else.

So long Jack

That is a damn shame. Jack could always be counted on to think out of the box. Truly a memorable and salty character.
