question for motorcycle guys
« on: November 14, 2006, 10:30:41 PM »
I believe a 400cc motorcycle would run in the 350cc class.
Am I correct?

Thanks, friend has an RD400 thinking about running the lakes and salt in 07

An RD400 would have to run in the 500 class.
Get off the stove Grandad.  You're too old to be riding the range.

This really not a dumb question, the SCTA is the only racing body that did not change their rules to allow RD400s to race in the 350 class. All the American road racing clubs allowed it.

HOW DO YOU FIGURE ?
« Reply #3 on: November 25, 2006, 08:17:15 AM »
How does the math work to allow 400cc to count as less than 350cc ?
While the motor is from the same family, the actual size determines the
class without regard to anything or anybody else.
A formula to accommodate a race series is as flexible as  the promoter but
speed record rules are not seasonal.
Build it to the existing rules and don't expect the rules to change or match
 the motor you have.
The class record has stood long before the bike was developed with no
reason to change now.
The bike you have fits an existing long standing class and can
 be made competitive.
That is how I feel about it anyway.

I Had a cracked Header during 05 BUB so I was down 46rwhp"only made 18lbs of boost" on my 201mph pass  !Jason, John, and Jon had too helped me to  get over the 199mph Barrier with my 1st time out! Now I have a Much improved Setup with 100 more rwhp and a couple other new  Idea's I'm willing to try in my assault for 250mph! Now come the Fun Part and Figuring how to pay for it all and still Live :? Man I wish I wasn't so Stubborn and independent.I could have had 5 Busa's still running for what one of my Broke V-rods have cost me. I just Hope Wille G. or Screaming Eagle would give me a LITTLE Support and I would be UNSTOP ABLE!!

Actually Jack, we are in agreement. In the 70's when I was road racing my RD350 one thing that made me mad was the racing clubs letting 400cc bikes race in the 350 class instead of the 500 class. This was caused by the big four Japanese bike makers coming out with 400cc street bikes. I don't think the bike makers should dictate the rules. (a uphill battle I know) This why there is a 600cc super sport class, the 500 became 550 then 600 and in some clubs you can race a 635 Kawasaki and 675 Triumph triple in the same class. Sorry, I meant it to be praise.

NO NEED
« Reply #12 on: November 28, 2006, 04:22:43 AM »
No need too be sorry at all.
Your are doing just fine and THX for the comment.
LSR records are quite different and hopefully will never become victim to
the influence that money can represent.
Sadly, AMA and FIM have fallen victim to that ailment and their long term
 credibility will suffer for it.
They are pandering to the money and their unwitting target is the nooby
to the sport with no sense of history.
You have seen me blister right away.
I have done this too many years to see it flushed now.
SCTA has drifted from the mark a bit and a number of people have
stepped up and would hope to get them back between the lines.
We shall see.

Jack

Sorry if I am a little shy.  LOL

Hi Kaz

I just recently moved to Gardnerville NV, My dad still has the waterjet shop in Vegas. I will be getting back to Vegas quite often after New Years, I will be driving our car in 07 About the RD I just thought it would be fun to tinker around with, I might take it and let a friend ride it just to see what we can do. I will need to update my email address on the board.
