I think you are seeing the reflection of the mountains behind. At least when I play the current day movie that what I see.

I checked the camera earlier today and there was a wrecker in the view heading east or from left to right.  He was in one frame and then gone.  I would like to hear the story that goes with that photo.

I noticed the truck also. It is some sort of flatbed truck carrying some sort of Caterpillar tractor or dozer (yellow).  Could be Intrepid mining for more salt.

I guess it was mirages that I've personally seen over the last 50 years. They looked like rail cars loaded with some white stuff.

A racer friend rode onto the salt this morning with his trail bike. Says it is exceptionally hard and flat, with no ridges. I asked if he could see the old courses, he said no. So maybe no more rain before race season will be OK.

I'm not sure of the exact bearing, but I'm pretty sure the camera looks NW or so...
