And from the olfactory......

It turns out using Durabuild over Polyfilla does not work. It seemed like a good idea at the time; without mistakes how do we learn; man I must be smart

The Durabuild simply creates an egg shell - next time use proper auto filler
As a result sanding high spots and bogged low spots was problematic; kept cutting through to the polyfilla.

I decided to wax what was there and layup a quick mold to get the nose out in fibreglass and finish it off in situ rather than at the plug stage.

Me thinks we only learn two things in this life: What to do and what not to do! Mostly what NOT to do!  :-P :-P
Love the build - keep at it!

I'm getting itchy just looking at all the fiberglass work your doing. However its looking great as usual. Hoping to see you next year remember there's less than 50 weeks left to go.
Working in the shop I use the 'F' word a lot. No not that word these words Focus and Finish go Fast and Flathead Ford!

RR - 50 weeks - eek.
Actually, if the stars align, the chicken entrails are correct and all that naval gazing comes to fruition it is 50 weeks to SW, 50 weeks to retirement.

QUESTION TIME

I have a front windscreen in 5mm polycarbonate; what interval do people run the mounting bolts (4mm c/s). It will be laid on an inner fibreglass lip all round (I assume they are not bonded) and isn't very large: 11 inches up the side and a 20 inch arc on the bottom. I am thinking every 2.5"?

The beasty will have A pillars to transition to side windows. The fact that it doesn't have a one piece screen may be something to do with lack of design forethought, or it might be deliberate; I have not decided yet.

Wayno has done some very nice aero things to his tank, carbon fiber axle cover and I love his wheel covers. If he should ever put these up for sale I want the first ones!!!

Great to see him run well.

50 weeks John, we will see you there.

... I spaced mine every 3"...
But that shield appears to be one complete compound curve. A shield formed from flat stock might need more frequent mountings.
