Bo, yep the head also lost a little aluminum between the exhaust seats.
Definitely caused by a bad fuel injector... When I had them tested the #1 was stuck.... So there must have been something get past the 20 micron filter.... or ?.... but 2 hours on his cleaning machine and he said it was back to working fine.
Probably putting in the big motor for the G class challenge next year... hoping Lemming John and John Goodman get their cars to the salt
If I get the big motor running on alcohol I think it will require the big injectors anyway.

Those little cylinders are a challenge to tune.  The four valves give good flow at low lifts, there are no high piston crowns to isolate the intake and exhaust valves during overlap, and the distances between the intake and exhaust valves are short.  This is a fertile playground for cross-contamination between the intake and exhaust charges.  Often this makes the lambda reading a false indicator of the mixture and its input will make incorrect changes.  These cross-contamination issues also change the optimal method for exhaust system design.  Talk about "exhaust effects" with an expert on using your injection system on peanut size cylinders.

Stainless,
Can't  believe that you are using a 20 micron fuel filter, especially with EFI. The clearances in EFI injectors are probably in some areas sub micron. I would suggest (as I always do) to go to a Pall 3 or 5 micron filter. These have the latest media technology and are amazingly very low pressure drop especially with fuel and the low volume that a fuel pump puts out. I am sure that you have a pilot line from your fuel pressure control valve that is down stream of your filter that insures that any pressure drop across the filter will not effect the pressure at the injector.  Pall makes a nice low pressure filter (rated to 250 psi) that uses a spin on filter element and the Z rated element is 3 micron with a filtration efficiency of 99.9999%(nothing get by). I also have an old aluminum aerospace housing that will take the Pall 9020 filter elements if you are interested. I can send you a pic. You can get a lot of real Pall filter products on E bay which will save you lots of money. Even if you use their older design filter elements they are still 99.99% efficient. One more thing don't use wire screen filters if you want to filter below 20 micron, low efficiency and high pressure drop.

Been forever since my last update...  :-o
Piston replaced, a few more things to do enginewise before the head goes on.
Head is repaired and ready to go back on... well at least the damage is repaired, it is awaiting assembly.
I have been building a wire harness... again I know why Dave Dahlgren's untimely passing has affected lots of racers... When you don't know exactly what you are doing you end up with lots of re-doing... but I have the ECU to firewall cable finished and partially installed... the firewall to engine cable has all the wires installed in the main plug.  I think I need to put a motor in the car to get all the wire lengths right.
I did get the new motec powered up on the dining room table... looks like I will need to convert my old DOS program info from my M4 to windows for my new M84.  Dave did that, plus wrote what it thought would be a better performing program, but my guess those are lost in one of his computers... lost and gone forever...

Then there is " Nothing Great is Easy" attributed to Capt Matthew Webb around 1875 who was the first man to swim the English Channel. Having participated in such an endeavor in 2006, not sure I would say our accomplishment was great, but is sure as the dickens wasn't easy. Rough seas and 4 of 6 seasick. Our whole team admitted to thinking " this is awful, I hope someone quits but it is not going to be me". Two way England-France-England crossing in 21hrs 42mins. First woman solo was Gertrude Ederle in 1927.

Now back to your regular programming

WOW, Jack, what an accomplishment! Swimming distance in cold, open sea is extremely difficult, more than most think. To this accomplishment, I will take a knee. By comparison, LSR must be a walk in the park.

I think the channel tunnel ?crossing? was my first and only time over 200mph on land and hoping to do it again soon, and both places involve salt.

The problem with that speed under the channel was that you couldn't see the fishes out the window.

Swimming it? Brrr.
A Bonneville Lakester please barman.
Certainly sir; a lick of salt, a sip of gas and a twist of Lemming. More Lemming sir?
Just a squeeze.

A Squeeze of Lemming it is sir.

OK guys... scroll up to reply 932, I'll wait.... Well Mr Jameson and I worked a deal with Rex for the housing and a 3 micron filter.... It arrived and I started figuring where I can put it.
I have 12 ORB to AN 6 fittings on order, none available in Wichita... I thought I had AN6 90 hose ends, but so far they are hiding from me.
But here's what I came up with to get it in there and keep it serviceable as required.

Thanks Rex... see you at the salt.

That looks like a filter from a 3,000 psi hydraulic system. I think you're safe on your pressure rating.
