Jerry, didn't I mention it was a tight space...  :? frame bottom to top is 16 inches... luckily the  tunnel is almost 10 inches more to the  top of the car.  The turbo is now about 3/4 inch above the bottom, so maybe room for an insulation blanket.

to optimize the concept I tried to design the racer smaller.....but Stainless remind me that we had to get a driver in, too....and they are not all the size as I'm...... :friday

Fronts, 18 x 4.4 Goodyear Flight Eagle 12 Ply are the best, but they are also the hardest to come by. We have had Goodrich as well.  I have some Michelins on the shelf that need shaved.  I have a shaving video on here somewhere.  Did I mention they require aircraft wheels... or you need to make wheels that are made like aircraft wheels... required to be 2 piece.

Finally got the turbo header completed... ended up with a foil bag over the outside so I could weld the inside.  I did end up using almost a 119cf bottle of argon... I have to thank the real welders on this site for the tips and suggestions... I even used my Big Pyrex cup with an ungodly amount of stick out to reach the tight areas and most of the inside welding.
Thanks guys   :clap
I grabbed one of my extra engine bay bottom pans and installed it in the car... then marked it for the 3/4 liter.  I need to cut it before I install the motor, the oil pan will stick below. It was easy with the husk that's in there, no oil pan installed.
I thought I might start the exhaust and wastegate but the flange from EBay doesn't fit... I might be able to modify it a little, We will see.... but yes have another on order.

When race ready we also safety wire the header bolts

Hey Jer... should I call you when I need child sized hands... actually there's more room than you think.  The header bolts are small (10mm) head flange bolts that are drilled for safety wire.  I think all but 1 can be tightened with the torque wrench... but we will see.

OK, pulled the husk and cut the oil pan clearance hole, put it back with a pan installed and it fit fine.  Pulled it back out and put it on the shelf... That motor is really light without a head and internals...
Started prepping the 3/4 liter motor to install...  Then hit my first snag... I failed to provide for a turbo oil drain....  :x I think I may drill and tap the side of the motor... just a bit lower than the turbo drain... but it is thin, so I'm looking at my #8 fittings to see if there is a better option...

Could you use a bulkhead fitting or weld a bung on the oil pan?

Jerry, I'm resisting the 20 or so replies and questions I started typing...  :naughty

Dumped the oil, pulled the pan and found a great spot on the block for the turbo return.  I tapped the block 3/4 16, installed a bulkhead fitting as snug as I dared with a sealing washer, then put another sealing washer on the inside, installed a metal washer and nut... tightened then added a backup nut to keep everything tight.  Threw the pan back on... yes that's a pan I modified when we put the 1 liter in BJ's pickup, and then figured out that the crossmember forced me back to a stock pan.  Yes I remember it being very hard to clean and weld a used aluminum oil pan to 6061.  I'm still thinking about making a deeper one... but this should have enough capacity.
Popped the motor into the car.... need to fit up the electrical, exhaust, fuel and cooling, then program the MoTec for it.
Did I mention how much I love that removable frame rail... made it easy for a 1 person motor install.

OK, dumped the oil again...  :x the fitting leaked... well the block is not straight.... it tapers about 0.050 from the mount surface to just above the top of the fitting...
Plan B.... took the bulkhead fitting to the lathe and made an O-ring groove.  put it back in, put an oring groove in the nut and put it back together with o-rings on both sides.... oil back in.... have not looked yet this morning to see if it sealed... JB Weld could be next
