Which BBQ was that? We have several here in Doodah.
Selmons... on Greenwich.. across from Beech... Now called 2 Brothers... the burnt ends were tasty... next time we will go to my favorite... B&C, 3rd and Washington.
His old Saab is factory turbo, but has an electro-mechanical FI system... If production supercharged went down to G he would probably be running in there.  Not sure he is ready to compete in E with his G motor.

But back on track... started putting the motor mounts back on to check alignment... will continue that task...  Scheduled to pick up an argon bottle and drop off the Busa head with Deni later this afternoon when I go in to town.

Edit: my bad... he already has the Classic E with his G, at least going into 2021.

The 3/4 liter is in the car hanging on 6 mounts without the board holding it in place... recheck of alignment has both sides touching the centerline.... I can hardly wait to see how close the Busa motor is with the laser instead of a straight edge....
Busa head parts showed up this morning... ordered them Tuesday afternoon after conferring with Deni...

While the motor was hanging in place I figured it would be a good time to figure out the shifter.... so I installed a shifter shaft in the skeleton motor and then made shifter pieces.  It uses a shorter cylinder and I had to shorten the rod end as well.
I think it will work....

Mere curiosity- do you guys with bike engines in cars use a hand clutch or a foot clutch?

The first time Bockscar was on the salt... 1984 it had part of the handlebar and the hand clutch... that lasted a coupe of years... then we reworked to foot clutch... Bike clutches don't require a lot of movement... and most hydraulic masters move way too much fluid.  Ours is basically an old aftermarket VW pedal set, hanging from the top and has lots of modifications on its modifications.  The pedal has a stop to limit fluid movement to the required amount.
I think I have most of the parts for the clutch for the 3/4 liter motor already made for the previous edition of the Bockscar... hopefully since it is on the motor and not the car, it will work and not require new pieces.  That is coming up soon...

New stainless and Inconel valves for the 1 liter head to Deni today... staying on track for February completion.

Valves are delivered... Deni was working on another customer's heads... then she has a 5 cylinder, Volvo I think, then me unless something jumps in... Oh, like I did... Deni likes interesting projects... and has a stack of chevy small block heads to work on... but the Volvo and I make her think... so we get worked in ahead of the drone work  :-o that and it is round de round off season and most of the stack are spares for the dirt trackers.

Well I searched and don't think I built a clutch slave mount and chain guard for the 750 yet... had one for gsxr 1000, very similar motor, shares the same head, but the rest is different.
But luck was with me... the plate for the 1000 shares 2 of the 4 holes as far a spacing goes... so with a minor amount of work I found the 2 holes, got them drilled... and fitted the mount plate.  I may have to redo a couple of the new mount spacers... I need to add a stainless chain guard to protect the water pump from chain failure so I need to replace the spacers that I make from aluminum.... minor issue...
I'm thrilled I didn't have to start over

Is the water pump the same as the 1000?

Yes... and no... the pump mounts are the same, the covers are different... the pump in the picture is from the NA 1 liter (Pork Pie motor).   The 3/4 Liter has a water cooled oil cooler built into the motor.  So there is an extra water connection on the pump.  I don't think I need to use the oil cooler... unless the turbo requires water cooling, then it may work to facilitate that... I am looking at the options... but it could be tough to plumb.
The cooler ports are blocked on all the other motors... I don't think we have used an oil cooler in the last 25 years.... never had enough airflow to make radiators or oil coolers work.

Bob,
What oil have you been using? I know that you mentioned it some where but can't remember what it is. We (Duke and myself) use a Motul syndic, specifically for motorcycle engines and although expensive it seems to work well.

Speaking of the oil - Stainless, I know you have spent lots of time racing with the Amo brothers, and that they have enjoyed many successes on the salt, but please think twice about using any oil they give you.  lol8

Rex, we started out running 20W50 almost any brand we could get.  Never lost one to oil failure... had lots of failures, just none that we could blame the oil...  :?  :-o
The 1 liter motor ran in the bike for 5 years using 20W50, 10W40 and 5W30... always had vacuum on the case.  Thinner oils or better tuning made it go faster...  The Busa motors were always 20W50...
But for the last 15 or so years we used BG full synthetic... Yes the BG sticker on the car indicates they are a sponsor.  The NA 1 liter ran Hi-Lo basically a 0W30 full synthetic... the Busa motors are running 15W40 Shear Power, full synthetic diesel oil.  Now after break in I will run the full synthetic diesel in any of them.  Most of the Busa drag racers run Rotella.
When I build it's usually mains on the tight side and rods on the loose side but generally staying close to within factory specs.

Slim, we never run the Amo anti-galling compound in our oil... and never accept a unsealed drink from them... although it has been made clear that serious injury or death may follow consumption of tampered with beverages

How long does an engine swap take when switching classes?? (Not including breaks to maintain proper hydration level )
