xAh - I think I've got it. We got to the salt a little while ago and drove the SIX miles or so from Land's End to the pits. The salt was really hard most iof the way - except that the cones weren't out and I meandered through the soft wet spot where the underground rived flows across. No biggie - but there was a bit of softer stuff around there. It got better towards the pits, though.
The salt was hard enough that the access road is still pretty rough, sorta. Not bad at all -- just not smoo-oo-oo-ooth. Ah, to be so demanding. It's great. Really -not bad at all. We haven't ventured out any farther than the pits, yet, so can't report on anything else. Access to the salt from Land's End is way improved by a bunch of freshly (sorta) dumped salt making a fine ramp down with no pot holes, not sink holes, nothing bad at all.
The start line appears to be a half mile or so away form Land's End. I'll confirm that tomorrow. The toilets are due here around 10, though, so Ill be kinda busy. And finally --I'm gonna start a separate tipic for SpeedWeek the event (vs. SpeedWeek the leadup that we've been posting in). We're going to have lotsa folks wanting to see pictures and not necessarily wading through the first pages of the existing thread.
See you on the salt.
