We run 750s, but earlier , and we have used a TRE (resistor actually), mostly as that model did not have ecu hacking available and i could not look at what was happening , i am very sure if i used a tre i have reduced the background variables of potential rpm limit and ign mapping change
Only things i have in your vintage to check ecu maps is 600 and 1000 , 600 has timing retard in the lower part of all gears in both available maps , not something that would worry you once you leave the line , while there is a less retarded map in the ecu its not assigned to any gear
and is the same from 10% throttle and up anyway
the 600 definition file i have is very basic so i cant look at much more than that
1000 ecu of that generation has top gear rpm limiters
and 3 sets of ign maps with TRE selected 5th gear maps the most advanced through much of the mid range , but pulls a couple of degrees out above 12000rpm and 80%tps -100%, from 31.8 deg to 29.7 not necessarily a bad thing with your vehicle
the 750 could have either combo or be somewhere in between , i still would use a TRE
