Legalize Traction Control?
« on: November 16, 2004, 12:14:00 AM »
SCTA currently makes traction control ILLEGAL in all classes except production cars where it is unchanged from the way it came from the factory. What do YOU think?

And how is this poll going to reverse the decision made by the board?

I suspect this is only to make someone feel better.. It changes nothing other than possibly to get a show of hands here but as Dan said and I agree it will not make a difference to the board what an e-mail list thinks about any decision they make.

Dan- A poll is not designed to change any board decisions. A poll only measures the opinion of the members on their boards decision.  Rich Fox

Hey Dan,

I don't have any delusion that a poll, no matter what the outcome, would change the mind of the Board. I just wanted to do something novel, actually get some input from interested parties about how they think the rules should go. Only with all information can a reasoned opinion be formed and only with member input can a consensus be reached. Of course, the board is not bound by this.

 Take it easy!

A poll is just what it is, a cross section of opinions.
If the SCTA board truely serves at the will of the clubs I would expect the clubs will quickly arrive at a position on this subject and relay that to the board.
While the board members are presumed to be leaders they must have followers.

It seems like SCTA already had a poll within their own group and got shut down. 14 to 1 is a pretty good poll isnt it. You are right a poll here wont do anything but show that people are either in favor or not, polls prove nothing even within an organization that when  person or persons dont like the results they over ride it anyway. So why have a poll? Why have a technical committee? Seems better to just draw straws.

Don't worry JD, the vote is anonymous so you can vote to allow TC and the board wont know  :p

As said, a pole shows nothing but the will of the people. If the board continues to over ride the will of the people....well, look what happened to the board that was in total control some years ago. It could happen again, and maybe should if true land speed racing is going to survive. Food for thought

I have what might be an interesting question.
There are I think 12 car clubs that race at El Mirage. Please correct me if I am wrong.

How many cars does this represent at Bonneville?

Compared to the number of enries at speedweek?

How many cars from clubs go to Bonneville is the real question vs. the approximate 400 there?

Does anyone know someone on the SCTA board well enough to ask how the TC vote went and why?
