Target 500 Team and crew extend our most complimentary wishes to them.

They are doing it on a shoestring and we understand that situation.

Danny....You have our TOTAL SUPPORT.

If You need something that we have, come get it. At this time we

don't need anything that we have as much as You do.

Got Salt lakester just ran -- got outside the lights and missed the last mile speed.  Needed a 329 - fourth mile was 313 and then he went away from the course.

A report of lightning near the course -- the car running will be the last 'til the weather settles down.  It sprinkled a bit fifteen minutes ago - that's stopped but the lightning is here.  Take a look for yourselves:

http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?rid=mtx&product=N0R&overlay=11101111&loop=no

Sure enough -- a lightning strike erased the reading form the last light.  We're on hold.

Speaking of Friday -- Ron Main and the Speed Demon crew are on the salt and I'll chase down Ron for his observations on the course for the Shootout.  It was pretty slushy for the first four or five miles yesterday afternoon -- haven't seen it in person today.  We'll stay in touch.  Right now I don't know how many miles they'd have to run on.  8 might be good enough -- but 11 is better.  I hope we've got at least that 8 now.

Thanks Jon, It'd be good to see you again, but I really have seen enough water for a while.

Hope things are good enough to get the shootout run this week end.

Please keep me and others posted on conditions, I'd hate to show up just to look at lake Bonneville again the year.

By the way, great big Thanks for all the work trying to get the sound out. We can tell it's a big pain to keep it going.

Awesome!
...from the first paragraph of a speedhunters.com article on DT a while back-

“There’s not a record for baddest motherf&%*er on the salt, but that’s what I’m going for.”
That’s how Danny Thompson, son of the legendary Mickey Thompson, puts it when I ask him which record he’s chasing when he arrives at Bonneville in just over a week.

Here is the article-

I am at Motel 6 in Wendover. There is thunder and sprinkles here in town.

There is RAIN on the course. Target550 is packing up to leave.

They didn't figure that the course would hold  the car. They told me

to NOT COME back out.

I don't have all the answers but weather was a concern at 10AM today. The

weather front was 60 miles South of Wendover.

Just keep your ears on. All I can report is that Target550 is loading up.

We learned what we needed. Successful event.

Danny Thompson is sitting there with a qualified record pass.

Target550 is praying for a safe return run for him.You pray too.

Down the course he goes.  Wow, what a sound!

First mile:   296  four mile 396   five mile  419.70    exit   424.857  back door

Wow!  For those of us who are counting ... Danny Thompson becomes only the 13th person over 400 mph (wheel driven of course).

Do you have that list handy? We were talking about that a few weeks ago trying to name them. It was stated that someone surely has a list already.
