The Lucas Mile was announced earlier today at WoS. They need a minimum of 20 entrants to make it viable and have (or had) 14. There is a trophy for the highest speed . . . sponsored by Lucas.

As posted by hotrod it replaces the Shootout this week.

The speed that you wish to achieve is only limited by the depth of your wallet.

I'm very glad to have got the streaming running well enough that you're all able to enjoy it.  Thanks for your patience and interest that kept me trying.

So I guess I'll do the dirty deed now and remind you that this effort ain't cheap.  I can cover events with just typed posts and that doesn't add much, but here I've got to be paying for data and the bits and pieces to get it up to the internet.  So -- I'd sure appreciate it if you'd be so kind as to send a bit of $$ to the site.  Paylpal is easy, but any way will help.  I've already got some donations in, but more will help.  Show me the love, so to speak.

I'm hoping to be out here for the Lucas Mile event, too, but since we don't know if there'll be one (need more entrants) and since we don't know if the format of the event will make live audio worth the hassle -- I won't promise anything yet.  Stay tuned and I'll let you know,.

Please remember that Jon is streaming the USFRA World of Speed and the Shootout Salt meets and I stream the ECTA meets so the $$$ do add up for Jon.

I'm guessing if it is the Lucas oil,   Roger Lessman still wants his liner to run.   He is sponsored by Lucas oil.

So... is Mike Cook's "test & tune" something apart from the "Lucas Mile"?

No - same event, different name.

My impression is that it's all been pulled together at the last minute, when it became clear that the full course would not be available for the Shootout. On the audio stream you can hear Mike talking to Ron Christenson and asking for an announcement to be put out inviting entrants.

The Top Speed Shootout has been rescheduled for the rain date - a few days after World Finals.  I think the dates are 6-10 October.  There isn't enough useable salt for a full-on FIA meet now.

So to have some racing for one and all now the Lucas Oil event is being attempted.  That is, gather enough racers that want to use a 5 1/2 mile course to both go for absolute top speed (in one run - no return runs), for both bragging rights and a trophy, and also for a chance to use the course for tuning and testing.  That's what the Lucas event is - not a true "meet" in the term of classes and records, but just race vehicles trying to go fast.

As I learn more about it I'll tell you.  It's now Wednesday morning and I'll mosey out there in a while to see what's what.

Yes, a few folks did back up their records.  I am still trying to find Dan Warner to get the list of them.  If I can't catch up with him I'll see if they're posted on the USFRA site.  I know that Valerie Thompson did finally make two runs back to back and got her record - probably.  The last I saw she was sitting by the bike and waiting for the engine to be measured.  Danny Thompson didn't back up his, John Levie did on the Lifan bike, Hellcat did on the sidecar rig, and the rest -- I'll have to dig up for you.

Having raced production bikes -- I'll say that the word "stock" ain't necessarily correct.  But that doesn't take anything away from the hat nor the rider.  Corngratulations!

Congratulations Valerie!!!  208 on a 204 record and a hat, WTFG!

BTW she was in MPS-G 1000, not Production.
