Here's a bit of detail. I'm in a crack whore motel in South Dakota tonight - and will letcha know what's what about the streaming audio before I go out for supper.
I've got the hardware for doing the streaming from Wendover. I plan on doing that stuff for both World of Speed and the Shootout. At WoS I'll put their AM 1610 radio station on the air (at least that's what frequency Monte said it'd be) and I've got a CB with me so I can try to feed that audio into the stream. Gregg, you might be corralled into helping me figure out how to get it working. I've got everything - save maybe a wire. I even brought a spare 12V deep-cycle batter to power the CB. And completing the odd stuff I loaded -- in my rental Chevy I've got a Honda generator to power the streaming stuff and the battery charger to keep the big battery full.
I'll remind you that WoS's audio might not be what the folks at home are used to hearing when they listen to an event, in that I won't be doing continuous play by play. It'll be their announcer (who may be Ron Christensen on AM and Glen Barrett on the CB) that doesn the talking, and there'll likely be long pauses when there's nothing going on. Sorry - that's all I can figure out for now.
Gregg, how many microphones are in the kit? I did get the long skinny box with the mike stand (I think that's what it is), but does that have one or two or how many mikes? I didn't find a spare one at the house, so maybe we won't have an ambience mike.
Now a few words about the Shootout and the audio. It's been arranged that Bill Guzenski - the track announcer at El Mirage - will be there to add his voice to the stream from the Shootout. Being from the EM part of the world he'll know the racers just about as well as anyone, so we oughta be able to give out with some good information. There is no track announcer/radio station at the Shootout, but we'll try to fill in some of the long pauses (which, at the Shootout, are sometimes an hour or four long) with interviews by Bill as he meanders around the pits.
That's enough for now. My tummy's starting to think my throat's been cut.
