OK, the project has taken a turn. It is currently going to be more of a street car, but the drivetrain is pretty interesting and would put me in some sort of "G" class if I made it a racecar.
It is a 2.0 liter, normally aspirated Toyota motor called a 3SGE Beams....and it came with a close ratio 6 speed. Motor is a joint venture between Toyota and Yamaha. Titanium valves are stock.
The problem is it is EFI. What class would I be in with a stock-ish bodied 54 Stude that had EFI? I am pretty sure that would kick me out of the "Classic" stuff. Is it just the fuel side that can't be computer controlled? What about the ignition side?

It doesn't sound like you are building a record car. So just go for G/Gas Coup

Yes would be G/GC. Plan USFRA 130 or 150 club. The current G/GC record is 191 something. Out of sight of any "normal" combo and set by a Synergy V8 2 liter making 400+hp.

My car is home built including the engines. Frame is 4x2x1/4. QC rear on 4 link with coil overs. Build them heavy and safe. For 2 years I ran in the 180s. Stepped up the game this year with a 496 BBC blown and injected. 239.47 mph. Looking for more next year. Salt fever is real. Safety gear doesn't cost it pays.

Don, my car was similar to yours, home built, but not chopped. Street legal the first year to the salt, 2002. Current record holder at 240.9 with a 515 ci BBC, had a ball with it and sold it for $26,000.
