Camping?
« on: June 08, 2014, 11:04:59 PM »
Why is there no camping at the track this year. Its part of the experience we look forward to socialize in the evenings with our fellow racers and not being able to camp will put a bigger financial burden on an already expensive sport.

WTF?

When was the last "camper-related" incident? Curious.

Total, and I mean TOTAL, garbage.

Some campsites have problems with Grizzly bears or bison herds (Yellowstone) but they shouldn't be a problem at Bonneville.

Are moose attacks on the rise? I am just wondering why this is suddenly an issue, after 5 years?

Let me be clear...I don't camp out. But, I hate being kicked off the track at 7pm or whatever (and not being able to enter real early) when I am trying to work on my machines. And, of course, it was always comforting to know that people were there providing some degree of security. And yeah, after a long day, it is nice to just BS with your fellow racers.

I am not going to single out Loring, because I also hate that aspect of OH. Much different than Maxton.

I recall a couple of years ago seeing a black bear along the fence line while waiting in staging. Only problem being the bear was on the same side of the fence as we were! With the moose and bears it adds to excitement at Loring. Be safe, have fun, go fast
Working in the shop I use the 'F' word a lot. No not that word these words Focus and Finish go Fast and Flathead Ford!

Just to clarify, no one will be kicked off the property.  You may come and go as you please.  You can stay as late as you want if you are working on your bike or come as early as you would like.  It all comes down to liability.  Camping and camp fires and booze equal liability.  there will be volunteers staying over every night to keep an eye on things as well.

Is there any place close by to park a motor home? Last year it was Spud Speedway.
Bonneville is proof that God loves us and wants us to go fast.
