We plan on heading South on Friday August 11 to Wendover pulling the Camaro on the trailer. Going to make some runs and have some fun. And if there is room at the Bend in the Road, we plan on staying there.
Oh and this website is the greatest. See ya!

Greetings to everyone -
I thought I would throw my two-cents worth in here.  I frequent this site and these message boards regularly, and read most of the posts, but rarely do I post a thought or comment.  I'm not a racer, or a builder, or a sponsor.  I am, for lack of a better term, a fan.  A spectator, a hanger-oner, and certainly a wannabe.  I have been venturing out to the salt from my home in Salt Lake, without fail, to Speed Week since about 1988.  This year will be no exception.  I can hardly wait.

For sure I come to watch the racing.  But honestly, sometimes I get confused by all the classes and technicalities.  Mostly I come to see the sights, hear the noises and smell the smells.  I come to marvel at the aerospace caliber craftsmanship and the artistry of the paint job.  I shoot up a ton of film, and willingly fry myself to an unhealthy shade of red.  I also come because the place is literaly steeped in automotive history.

This year I have decided to fling myself over the edge and stay for Salt Talks and experience the goings-on at the Bend in the Road.  I'm not sure what to expect, but I'm sure it will be informative, entertaining, tasty and satisfying, but most of all - more fun than a barrel of monkeys.

Now if it would just stop raining, dammit.

See you on the salt.

First timers/Newbies are very near ready to leave.  My Dad and I are about to make our first trip ever to the salt.  He lives in Western Pennsylvania and is leaving Tuesday Morning to come to my Place near Flint, Michigan.  We are heading out Tuesday late afternoon/ early evening to get past Chicago during the night.  I have heard that I-80 is torn up pretty bad there.

We are staying at the "bend" ....   Can't wait to see you all..

I just got home from Germany to find that our new engine survived the dyno and has made the whole crew happy.
The guys have been exercising their shoe horns to fit it into the pickup since 20 July and the little truck will be ready to load into the trailer come Tuesday.

We're looking forward to an awesome speedweek.

Newby's take heed.  Bring lots of sunblock, water, gatorade, Straw hats with tie downs, cool collars, shoes, and if your wearing baggy shorts, you better have underwear on or you may end up with sunburns in places you can only imagine.....................

Some other musts for salt survival are lip balm (with sunscreen) eye drops and saline nasal spray. The drying qualities of the salt and the near zero humidity is remarkable.

Here's a tip we found to be extra relieving: Keep your eye drops on ice in your cooler. A shot of frigid Visine, Murine, etc. is amazingly refreshing!  8)

Hey Glen-
I've exhausted my supply of Timer-supplied 'putty. Make sure the next batch is minimum SPF 50.

See you Friday, Glen.

Most people have no idea of the rocket attack that will be launched agains't the Bend in the Road gang.

I plan to sell insurance to them in case the trajectory is off.

Send several their way and we will split the pot.
