We will return with an improved E/STR 1986.  Much work over the winter resultling in a new record at Maxton.  Of course that is concrete and we know just how unfriendly the salt can be.

Jon, I can't wait for the Salt Talks and to taste the road kill you and Nancy pick up along the way.  I'm staying at the Bend so let me know if I can help out.  I'm pretty good at skinning squashed things LOL.  See you real soon.

OK time to pipe up.
Finally got the "Pinto" motor running after long wait for top rings. (long story)
Testing is next Tuesday for final Methanol calibration.
I'm looking forward to making some passes with REAL horsepower. Glenys and I are planning on leaving Sat 05 Aug and stopping for a brief visit in Wyoming at her daddys grave site.  We will arrive Wendover on Thursday.
I just read elsewhere that the salt has had some rain.  Sure hope it stays as good as reported earlier.

Roadster 943 will be there. I am looking forward to good salt and I will do my best to keep my engine parts off the salt. I have a favor to ask any one that may be getting to the salt early. I won't make it until sat. morning. If one of you would save us one of the shady spots in the pits we would sure share our beer with you.

Here's to 7 days of good salt and safe runs. See you there!

Under the oak tree, near the sugar maples, or would you rather have a pit right by the flowing creek filled with brook trout?  Nancy and I will arrive a couple of days before you -- we might even be able to save you some room in the air conditioned shop -- you know, the one with hot and cold running maid service?  Let me know -- space is going fast.

I will be there. First time running for me, but I have been out there since I was an infant with my father.

The expected learning curve is making me lose sleep. :)

Oh yea, but the wife is a "hotrod" gal.......she went about 5 hours to Oklahoma in the roadster p/u in the pouring rain in late april (aka: cold) for the SK500 in Dewey, Oklahoma.

Hey Slim I love to fish so the pit next to the creek sounds great. What kind of beer do you like?

You remember the words to the "Beer Barrel Polka", right?  They start "In heaven, there is no beer".  Well, our pit is our little slice of heaven (although the temperature out there may make it feel like you're in the other part of the hereafter).  I don't drink beer (but thanks for the offer), so bring cold water or an iced Powerade or something -- or come share ours.

As for the stream with the trout -- unh, I think the trout have been fished out, but there's a nice selection of bullheads and sewer carp available -- well-salted, too.  Would that do?

There are plenty of brown trout, in the green or blue ice igloos scattered about the salt...

Talk about "services" reminds me of some first-time visitors to the Salt, a couple of years ago, driving from SLC to Wendover.  They talked about seeing the road signs at the exits proclaiming Knolls or whatever, then the words "No Services".  These guys told us that they weren't looking to go to church just then anyway, so why all the signs?
