Actually Ray and Marlo were teaming up on me regarding my pickup. They were not satisfied with my

progress so the pickup was going to Marlos. The Target550 crew was ready to make it a runner.

We will go ahead with the project and have it ready when the salt is ready,

Met Ray at the World of Speed  Sept 2012. My friend Michael came with me and he also was a professional commercial photographer. We both met Ray and talked about photography and cars. Ray was trying to get into the 130 club and had all kinds of problems. He said that he eventually wanted to build his Monte Carlo in his own garage and go 200 mph. I've been following his build on his website and was always curious about updates. It's a shame he never got it into the 130 club. I personally would  give an honorable mention for trying. We have lost a vital part of our community. My deepest sympathies to his family.
No trailer ran 135mph at the World of Speed 2011 see you in 2012 in Ohio and back at Bonneville at the world of speed going for the 150club 1979 Firebird T/A White . Ck out YOU TUBE. KERRY AT BONNEVILLE. Didn't  make 2012,2013,2014. ECTA in Ohio 2012 trans went out and 2013 fuel problems . Still trans and fuel problems. Finally all looks good. Ready to drive (no trailer) 1500 miles to Bonneville and It's cancelled. NEXT YEAR. SEPT. ECTA RAN 144 MPH. GETTING BETTER. 2021 Ran 152 fulfilled a ten year dream to make the 150 club.

He bought a recent Camaro and had just about decided to try the

130 club with that car and then shoot for the 150 Club. He has

been "on the road" a lot recently and I haven't had any discussions

with him about the 130 Club.

I deeply regret I never found an opportunity to meet Ray.
It is ironic I suppose... We Potter Brothers all grew up in Taylorsville and each of us are still just a few miles away scattered around the Salt Lake Valley. We didn't discover Bonneville land speed racing until three years ago.
I really respect Ray's work, and the dedication of so many Salt Flat teams, especially the Target 550 guys.
It would be an honor to be considered 'a friend', and to attend the open house on the 23rd.

When I first opened this thread I didn't know what to expect. When I saw the pictures of ray I was hoping it wasn't what it had looked like but sadly it was. I had the pleasure of meeting Ray at speed week and am very thankful I had the opportunity. Definitely a sad day land racing won't be the same without him.

The open house that his family held Sunday March 23 was excellent.

His sisters and sons were hosting. Some LSR people that are on

Landracing.com were present as well as neighborhood friends and

people that he knew from AA. It was a warm sunny day and Ray

would have been satisfied except that someone had driven his Camaro

in the wet and not cleaned it before it was parked. He wouldn't have

liked that.

For certain, Ray will be missed.

I owe an apology. The Camaro had NOT BEEN DRIVEN on wet streets.

The man that pressure washed the house for the Open House was the

cad that made the deck of the Camaro unsightly. The garage door was open.

So now the paper boy won't have to be fearful of being chewed out

for taking the Camaro on his route.

I'm just looking out for my Buddy's car.

I haven't been on here for a while. I knew Ray had health problems but, i was shocked to see he had passed away. We had common interests in Bonneville and AA.  I will miss my friend but, know he will be watching over us from above, with those who had left us over the years. Godspeed my friend.

I just learned of Rays passing. I'm so sorry.
I've met Ray a few times, but never really had a chance to get to know him... Always thought there would be plenty of time later to really talk with him and get some photography tips.
It just drives the point home that if you have something to say, or learn from someone to do it as soon as possible, because they may not be around later...

Rip Ray.. I wish there was more time to get to know you.
