ZX-12R Owners @ Bonneville.....any still holding it down?
« on: June 29, 2006, 12:21:46 AM »
Just looking to see how many run?  I've ran into a few @ Maxton...

What your mods and MPH?

Any over 210...?  220?  230?

Looking for 200-210 on the salt this year!  MPH-affecing mods include:

Lowered
PC3R
Full Muzzy Exhaust
Bear Short Stacks
BMC Race Filter
Dry 40 shot of Nitrous
No mirrors/signals
Taller Gearing
5'6" about 135-140 w/gear

Any big bore, nos, or turbo running @ Bonneville this year?

John Wennerberg should be there with his Nitrous ZX12. He has run in the 220's on nitrous.

Jim Owen has also been out there and ran around 215 w/nitrous.

Joe Amo using a ZX12 aftermarket front fairing on his ZX10 has ran 244 turbo.

With a big bore kit and muzzy controller, exhaust "Dick Head" racing from Colorado went just a tad over 200 a few years ago..

There is a Green Goblin racing running nitrous I dont think he has gotten over 200 yet but has ran some.

Thats all I can recall at moment

Jon

Thanks for the extra few mph, Jon.  My best mile was 216.530 -- 216.985 back door.  That qualified me -- and the return run (the next morning) was when I discovered the frailty of the oil filter gasket.  The engine lost all the oil -- and I went from a perfectly good engine to a new crankshaft in about 8 seconds.  That was in '04.

In '05 the course was too bumpy -- I still don't understand Joe's relationship with his bike that allowed him to run 220 then.  More power to him!  I managed a 186 mile and then had to stop to change underpants.  If the course was good we would have found out what the 80Hp shot would have done.  Maybe this year -- I hear the course is looking good.

I know Ali from Maxton -- and look forward to getting yet another racer addicted to the Salt.  He's made it to a couple of ECTA meets -- needs to feel the wondrous smile that'll be on his face after the bonneville experience.

Heh heh....yeah man....I'm aiming on being there.

Just ordered a new OEM windscreen since the tape that held together my present one started flapping around and getting peeled back @ 200-202

Also my front upper is cracked still....instead of fixing it I may just replace it...we'll see.

Maaaaaaaan I can't friggin wait!  I may need to invest in some more Nitrous Bottles....then again the motor is 100% stock save for the CCT.  I gotta go muzzy clutch soon too.

Screw it, I'll aim high NOW!

N/A:  200 mph
NOS:  210 mph

You will run faster at the BUB Meet
due to the fact that they run on a "special " place on the salt that is "Down Hill"

Ronnie,

It was good to see you run while we were in Oz, your NA bike ran faster than all of the turbo bikes except one, it would be awesome to see you run at Bonneville or even Lake Gairdner when the course and weather are good at the same time.

You ran 204.000 right?=D>

Take care,

J

He said the BUB meet is "special" and going was going "Down Hill".
