The tube I chose was about 22mm ID so I cut it and took out a sliver.
Squeezed that in the vise until the hole saw was a sliding fit and tacked it.
I then made two shorter tubes, clamped them after grinding a flat surface on each and welded them.
After that it was getting a fishmouth to match the curved plate at a good enough angle and on centre. It worked out good so I clamped the whole contraption
on the spare runner with the centre marked and tacked it together.

I used a thick piece of offcut plate to space the jig from the base flange and used a strong clamp to hold everything. I used my underpowered old Makita cordless screwdriver 12v drill
to open the holes on the runners.

I've only done one bank.
Using the 19mm saw on a 22mm OD final cut gave me some wiggle room I had already anticipated.
I used this awesome burr made for Aluminium to siamese the holes and it took all day but the welder doing this job won't be filling gaps of any significance.
Then I needed a jig to hold the injector bungs exactly on all axes and that's for both sides. Bear in mind that I need 4 fuel rails because I'll be running either 8 or 16 injectors.
I'm not an engine builder. I assemble other people's ideas. Guys pick cams, calculate compression, bearing clearances, runner length and all the other magic and I put the components together.

Last week when I left my sponsor after the meeting I was telling Craig I needed to go buy some 13mm round bar so I could cut it and polish it down to size to fit the injector bungs.
We were next to a rack full of material and he claimed I won't find 13mm but pulled some 12.7mm Stainless rod off the rack and asked if I could use it?.
Bingo!!!!!.

I got home and set to work cutting 8 lengths. I worked out perfect. No offcut even. After that I had to bullet nose the working ends so they wouldn't marr the Aluminium.
I got each rod on the drill press and used water paper to get them so that they slide easily into the bungs. All day yesterday!!!. They're all good and I slept early and long.
This jig is a one off so all I need is a part that keeps its shape. I'll tig the drilled mild steel tube to the stainless rods. I drilled all holes to 14mm so if I was off of centre I can clamp it all together and weld.

My oil pan just needs the 4 holes for the oil pump to be a complete unit.
I loosely based it off the NASCAR pans I've seen where the oil runs under the baffle plate and is directed with vanes to the pickups.
Getting hardware today to fasten the baffle to the side of the rail. The screws and washers will be bonded with the craziest adhesive I've ever come across.
I think I used more Carbon and glass fabric than you'd find on a whole MotoGP bike fairing to build this pan and the resin system is rated at 240*C for 8 hours.
Coatings aren't what they seem. This is resin polished using Klingspor Abrasives and no you can't fingerprint me. Palms maybe?.😂😂😂😂😂

I'm the last guy that loves Shiny Carbon but the environment dictates surface finish. I was a motocrosser and that old dust will get in your shorts so on the liner shiny is good.
I'm chief cleaner and checker on this deal. I trust God only. Humans not so much. The pan rail on this thing is stout!!!. Remember the guys that used Gorilla power on a sheet metal pan that "leaked" from new with new gaskets???. Not here.

I thank the Lord for everything.🙏🏻✝✝✝✝✝

I built this huge obstacle in my head on the injector bung thing.
Life has a way of changing overnight. It's coming together beautifully.

I know why all of you guys love land speed racing now.
It's the journey.
I'm never bored and mornings are exciting. Some guys have jobs!!!!.
This is better than fishing.😂😂😂

Definitely better. I think my fishing days are over. This project will keep you from getting old.
It won't let the old man in. No way!!!. Gee man, the brain is in overdrive.
I watched Marlo on YouTube last month. He's the same he was years ago. ALL IN and won't back down. I want to be like him.
A lack of funding has been my gripe but I look around and all of you are in the same boat.
There will never be enough money. Why this is a smaller sport is surprising to me.
No competition. It's you and the environment. No two cars or bikes are the same and everyone has their own take on how to go fast.
When I'm done I'll be bored for sure.
Sparky, I have to thank you for going above and beyond on helping me out of an impossible situation. Your generosity is off the charts. God Bless you brother!.
You got me over the hump. Gestures like this stick for life. One never forgets. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻✝✝✝

Jer, Sparky definitely got bit. He put his hand it the water to check temperature and a Pike got him up to his elbow!!!.
American companies had no problem sponsoring me but wanted nothing to do with shipping.
Sparky knows and so do I, why?. It's a nightmare.
The Sacramento guy is going to have to answer one day but hey none of us are saints!.
I had long hair, was the fittest guy in Africa and going into the Army. The advice I got was stay in the background and don't volunteer for anything.
Be in the rear with the gear!. Hide!!!!. That's Sacramento South African right there. I think he was a draft dodger too based on the time he's been away?.
Sparky is special. He was front and centre, got two beatings and he got it done.
As a kid I used to do the loyalty test. Made up a story about another crew that was looking for us. I knew who was going to turn up but it gave us a chance to thin the herd.
That childish test proved to be real. The guys that showed all turned out to be staunch men and the others are still girls.
I bet when I meet Sparky I'll say "yup, you could have been a defenceman". Life is like hockey.

Saltwater is easier than Bass. The line is thicker so dexterity is less of a problem and it's easier to see.
I've got reading glasses and welding glasses. Not long and they'll be the reading glasses. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Friday is going to be crazy. Jerry's going to go angling!!!!.

I have a partial injector bung welding jig.
My brain was fried by 17h00 so I walked to fight another day.
Nick Young is going to weld the bungs and flanges but he's in Cape Town so the whole rig is being shipped.
After the last debacle I don't trust the "Dakar winning truck builder" anymore. He put his apprentice on the job and I had to cut the flanges off because they never used the clamps
and spacers. I lost all my clamps too but way cheaper than bail money.
Nick is cool. He's a 22 year old director of a company that sells all the specialized tig equipment in SA. He got into the business because he wanted flexi head torches and Pyrex cups.

I always made fair jigs for welding before I started welding my own stuff to make it easy for the guy doing the work. I try keeping gaps to a minimum.
This one should be done by work's end today.

Crazy day.

The inlet jig fell off the vise. It's a hard one to hold and it ended up on the floor and being the slob I am it cut power tool cables better than a scalpel.
I had to hunt old school plugs because the new stuff is sealed. Joined, spliced and connected.

I've got the left bank ready for the jig plates and I'll weld them in place tomorrow.

For my mate Jerry who shares his name with my brother.

This should cheer you up even with the typo eh?.

A few years back I was wearing it and we went into a hardware store with Greg.
The old grey haired lady came up to me and said "good to see an old rocker".
It took a while to register but then it was hey "this chick has a sense of humour and her son is probably a fan".
She said check my hands, callouses and all!!!. I'm a drummer in a cover band and we do everything from Cream to Metallica.
See why you can never judge a book by its cover?. No duck side brother. Get well.😂🙏🏻✝🧡

Every four days a box of machined parts are ready.
18 months of being played turned into about 10 days.

Maybe Craig being a 1 Parachute Battalion has something to do with the turnaround time?.
Thanks brother.

Check the Chinese bearing.  😂😂😂😂😂. Only good for OD.

Parts are in the shop.
I'll need gas, a lot of gas to weld all this stuff.

Also got paint on the Nitrogen chute cylinders.

I won't stand in queues unless it's at the airport and I don't fly these days so I'm told I can register for my pension online.
It's way more than online and involves queues. All this for $110. The military pension is way better but get this!!!!. To qualify
you need to have served in WW2 or Korea. They could have just said NO.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
South Africa baby. Best weather on the planet.
