All this weather info is informative. I came to the conclusion that a weather man is the only job where the person can be 100% wrong, 100% of the time and still get 100% of their pay.

Next course update at 6PM MT this evening. The ONLY OFFICIAL meet information comes from Mike Cook or Mike Cook Jr.

I'm at DFW -- waiting to leave about an hour and a half ago.  But that's another story.  Junior just called.  They dodged today's rainstorm bullet - had someone at the 12 and someone at mid-track and no rain fell from the dark and nasty clouds that were around.  It's still wet around the pavement going to Land's End -- but better there than out on the race track.  And that means that as of right now -- if things don't change -- the event can start on Saturday.  I haven't looked at the forecast in a while so don't know what else might be in store, but you can hope, hey?  SLC by bedtime tonight and Wendover by lunch tomorrow.  C U Later.

Now that we've heard from Junior, I'll post some photos.  I'm in Bendover and I'll be here for a coupla daze, anyway, depending on what happens.
First a coupla photos by Larry Ledwick, aka Hotrod...some tourists wading/bathing in Lake Bonneville.

Then the weather,  This is what things looked like in Taylorsville around noon as I was about to leave.

About 50 miles west, the horizon started lookin kinda poorly.

Five or ten miles further west, it got real wet.  I almost pulled over to wait for the rain to ease up.

When got to Lands End, some competitors showed up, but there was no tech inspection for kayaks, so they gave up and left.

After hanging around for a while and visiting with folks, (and watching the weather radar that showed 2 cells heading in our general direction) I made a shot of the eastern-most cell approaching Floating Island:

Then there was a sort of break to the southeast:

And another cell to the south:

Looking back toward the southwest, the sun was shining.  Dan Warner pointed out the little mound above the cone on the right and said that it had been pretty much under water this morning.  Things could be worse, I spose.

Apparently both cells missed the salt and right now the weather is partly cloudy with a slight breeze.  Ohh..and the flies are back.  Good thing I left the fly strips, swatters and spray in the Burb.  I can amuse myself by wreaking vengeance on 'em when I get bored.

We'll see what happens in the morning.

If I could get that close, I'd prolly fire a pistol shot at 'em.   :-o

Ohh...here's an animated loop of the weather radar from about 7 pm MDT.

Outstanding! Got my fingers crossed. I have been doing everything I can to keep the rain moving east until it gets to my part of the world. Apparently it's working, seeing that it has been raining here for two days straight!
