Online resources for aero info?
« on: June 20, 2006, 10:37:06 PM »
Can anyone suggest some sites for learning a bit of aerodynamics for a newbie? Of course, I'm looking for information directly related to our quest for speed on land.

Is there a resource that breaks down cars by known cg/frontal area? I was wondering if there is a chart I can reference for a starting point. Then I'd like to learn as much as I can about the science of cutting the wind. I've heard a bit about the exponential need to increase horsepower to overcome drag.

Any tips would be appreciated. Book recommendations also. Thanks, Erik

Go to this page on my site:

http://purplesagetradingpost.com/sumner/bvillecar/bvillelinks.htm

Then go down to the "Aerodynamics Related Sites" and you will find some of what you are looking for.

Then go to this page for some books you might want to pickup (about 2/3 of the way down):
