Is it possible for the SCTA to accept a new club that would be made up from the national motorcyclist family   The meetings could be held on line and we would still race for points and vote on issues.

I doubt it. The SCTA bylaws control the application to form a club and join SCTA. Club memberships have duties to pull at the dry lakes. You can attend a board meeting and ask what it takes. First it takes a lot of dedicated members of any club to make it work. In the past few yaers as I recall only one group applied and was accepted and they only lasted about 2 years. :?

Thundair,  Why do you want to start a club?  You're in San Diego and you have the SDRC there.  A great club with a lot of two wheelers there.  And I think you know most of them.
Get off the stove Grandad.  You're too old to be riding the range.

That is a very interesting link.  A lot of helpful suggestions.

So I'm wondering where you are on the project.  Have you been able to piece a motor together that gets you into 650?

Hope to see you run in August.

Hey how about some pictures of the liners and other junk.  I can't find any on ( YOUR SITE ), not even in the "Top Secret" section where I'm usually not allowed access 8) .  I don't have enough in the bank right now to afford gas to drop in  .

You do have a digital camera, don't you   :?: .  If you don't have time to post them, send them to me and I will.

I don't see why not.

The only thing is that to get a club into the SCTA, you will become responsible to get certin jobs done at each lakes meet. The more members you have, the more jobs you are responsible for. Doing that "long distance" and attending the board meetings every month would have to fall on someone local.

You don't need to trade anything, just send them and I'll get them back to you in August or through the mail.  After all we have the world's fastest mailman (Hooley) on our team   .

Let me get this back on topic.

Taken from the current SCTA Bylaws regarding new club membership:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B.   Requirements for Club Membership:

1.   Membership shall be limited to those clubs meeting the following requirements:
    a.   Submission of an application
    b.   A sincere interest in the stated objective of the Association
    c.   Payment of the current initiation fees and dues
    d.   Proper maintenance and operation of vehicles owned
    e.   Compliance with all safety and competition rules and regulations imposed by the Corporation
    f.   Having at least ten members in good standing[/list:u]
    1.   Member club representation shall consist of those persons duly appointed by the member clubs to represent their individual club at the regular meetings.  The number of representative from each club shall be as follows:

      10 to 15 members ? 1 representative
      16 to 30 members ? 2 representatives
      31 to  - members ? 3 representatives[/list:u]
      B.   Representative Duties.

        1.   A club representative has the duty of presenting motions and voting for his/her club on all matters of business for the Association.  Each representative present at a meeting has one vote.
        [/list:u]--------------------------------------------------------------------
The yearly lakes duties are agreed upon and assigned at the presidents meeting (which I think is the Feb board/reps meeting). For a 10 person club you would expect to be assigned at least 2 duties per event, with one of them being a patrol so that normally takes 2 people in itself (am & pm).

Once you start looking at the lakes duties, the prospect of a stand alone long distance club gets pretty bleak.
