I was looking at the rulebook and I have a question...

Does a car in the /GC class HAVE to have an engine swap, or can you run with the stock engine size?

What makes a /GC car different from a /PRO car, besides the /GC can have an Engine Swap?

I am a bit confused...

In the rule book under Gas Coupe, a GC needs an engine swap, quick change rear, or non stock supercharger. 1 or all takes it out of production..  Engine size is not a part of it.

B's (373 to 439 cu. in.) could be a big or small blocks. A big block in a Chev Monza would be a GC, a small block would be in PROD. There also "C" size big blocks. (Big blocks did not come in Monzas)..Good Luck

Thanks Jimmy

So to make sure I get this...

So the only way to run a car with the stock, non-blown (because a non-stock blower would be /BGC), engine in the /GC class is to put a Quick-change rear end in it?

That is the way I read it.  Is there a reson you don't want to run PRO?  You could always change classes in the future if you wanted.

That's it. GC was made for "hot rods" when it was formed. Came out if Rosetta for the lakes. BNI adopted it.

Hot rods had engine swaps and quick changes back in the 40's and 50's and this it where it came from.

Good Luck

I was considering using my '91 Nissan 240SX....

*it has an engine swap, but just a year  change ('91-'95)

*The factory IRS is not really "Quick Change Compatable" and I am not going to totally destroy the car by sticking a straight axle in it... ;)

*I'm not into Turbos or Blowers and that would put my into the "Blown" catagory anyway

I was looking at getting into LSR with what I have, and maybe try to get my name in the books, without going out and building a car from the ground up, because I don't have enough real estate to do that!

The /GC class would be a great target as the engines I already have fit in that class, but without destroying the car (removing the IRS), I am not sure I could pull it off.

But if the only 3 changes that will get a car into the /GC class are those, I maybe outta luck.

Thanks for the info Terry!

I think you only have to make 1 change. The others on this site have alot more experence than me. Maybe some one else knows for sure.
