Well after a rain delay or two we finally got the car to the drag strip for some shake down runs. I ran it first, crash test dummy I guess. It ran smooth and straight with no surprises and the breaks are true and tight. Amy ran it twice, back to back, without coming back to the pits. The track is lit but as the sun sets the track requires "a tail light" to run. Ain't got no working tail lights.
Learned a few things. 1. The carb is a wee bit lean. The A/F meter I installed read 18:1 on the top end (1/4 mile) according to Amy. Me thinks me needs to fatten it up a bit.
2. New manual steering is nice and tight with no slop, Thanks for the parts hook up T-man.
3. Got a scrubbing noise under neith. Gotta hunt that down.
4. The new shifter seemed to do the job, will double check everything anyway.
All in all it was time well spent. Amy is in Buffalo, NY to see family and Anchor bar wings, yum.
We will most likely hit the drag strip a couple more times before the meet in Ohio in September.
