Heres the little burito 350 after we took it out of the car this past winter. Basically all we did to run last year was put a new intake, carb and MSD ignition on it. The engine is a barter piece from a buddy of mine. It seemed to have low street mile on it. It ran well enough and got the car to 137 and change on our first time out. the spec's on it are as follows

approx. 290hp @ 5100rpm, we ran up to 6000rpm just because.
approx. 326 ft/lb torque @ 3750 rpm. ok
max recommended rpm - 5100rpm, ok
comp. ratio: 8.5:1
Heads: cast iron, 76cc -1.94 intake/1.5 exh.
Cam lift: .450 in. /.460 exh.. check it, it was real close.
Flat tappet Duration: @.050" 222*int / 222* exh.
Conn. rods powdered metal
Block: 4 bolt main, 2 pc. rear seal
crank: cast iron, nodular, 3.480" stroke
Rocker arms : 1.5 stamped steel
Timing: 34*BTDC total advance, increased to 36*

Amy put 10 passes on it at the drag strip to get use to the car. She ran it to 6000rpm on all passes.

She made a total of 8 passes at the April,2012 meet running it to 6000rpm. no problems.

Frank, love the bead rolled door panels.

Looking at the burrito specs from an ex-counterman from a speed shops perspective, there are so many little things that could be done to pep it up. I also know about budgets as I ran my drag cars on dental floss budgets and itll be no different with LSR.

Im enjoying the reading.

Frank:

Enjoying the thread. The reverse build diary. That's how I will have to do it. When the car is done or as done as it will get for a while. Then I will have time to organize the pictures and list the steps of the build.

Pictures are a great way to know when building and tear downs. It's a great refresher. Every little bracket should be photografted
and kept with the build book, the log book is for running the vehicle and taking notes when running. I used to make a template for 90% of the parts I made and they went with the car when sold. They can be numbered and cataloged. You wont be soory down the road when something is broken or needs to be modified etc.

Frankie, we have done a little pepping this year that I will get too. Dental floss budgets are what we live by, Amy being an over paid school teacher and all.

Glen, Yep photos for refering to on tear down and reassembly works well for me as I'm a visual kind a guy. Tell me how to do sometthing you'll have to tell me twice, Show me how and thats all I need. I have the receipts for every part for the build book and a matching photo. the log book only has notes for one year. that will change in Sept.

After getting the engine mostly apart I noticed some "mud" oozing around in the block. It would appear that the truck this came out of had a radiator leak. I flushed 2 and a half buckets of good old stop leak gunk out of it. No wonder it ran a bit hot.

A pile of parts going away and a pile installed. Got rid of the wizzer heads, cam intake, ect. keeping the rotating assem. for this year ($). Next years plan is to replace the raotating assem. with a little more performance oriented bits. I haven't decided on just what parts or "kit" yet.

Post tear down inspection reveiled..... no surprises. Cylinder bores, although could have used a hone job, looked good with no noticable wear or damage :-D. They averaged 4.002" across all eight. Crankshaft end play was spot on at.006".

After a healthy cleaning wrenches started to fly. The motor held 58 to 60 lbs. oil pressure at idle at temp. Knowing that I thought it in my best interest not to yank the main or rod caps. Please note: Murphys law does not apply to me. He lives in my house, eats my food, drinks ALL my beer. Hence I saw no reason to tempt Mr. Murphy by pulling the caps. I did, however, replace the main bolts with an ARP main stud kit with the hopes of adding a little strenght and installed a windage tray because the catalog said it would free up HP. :-D

Yep Sparky, picking up bits and pieces of nascar stuff as I can. Most will be used when it's time for the little burrito motor to go away and be replaced with something a little more substantial when she can no longer provide the umph needed to get to the next level. I buy in pairs when I can so I will have the parts when I start my car project. I need to go fast too. :-D
