Twice this month I've actually been home, tried to log on, and my magic glowing dingus box and its associated sundries are fighting my efforts.

Maybe we should see if Skype has an option . . .

We've been using the same software, I think, since before I got this site.  I'm going to ask Bob Clancy if he's got something that'll make it work for everyone.  I'll ask him to look at this topic, too, to see what you folks have been seeing when you try.

I'm using Firefox.  I had to delete old versions of Java.  Then loaded the newest version (had also done this a couple months ago).  Then still got a plugin error going in.  Had to go into managing plugins with firefox.  Firefox says the newest java has a security problem and recommends not using it.  You do have the option there to have firefox ask you if you want to run it each time it is needed.  I checked that.  Then going into chat firefox asks if I'm sure I want to continue.  I say yes and it then opens the chat.

I can't get to the chat room via Firefox, buy IE works fine.  I don't know why, I'm just glad that IE lets me in.

The problem with that is, I'm too old and stupid to know what that means.

There is a virus going around that masquerades as a "Java Update", so check the web address to see that it really is valid.

As promised, I've sent a message to Bob.  It says, basically, about the problems with getting into the chat room:  "WTF?"

Let's hope he can shed some light on the subject - maybe fix, maybe change everything.  He does have some kind of day job these days, so he might not see my email right away this afternoon.  For sure he'll be on it by next week's Tuesday evening.

Last week I asked Bob to look into the problems with the chat line.  Here's his response as of this morning.  It doesn't look great, but at least -- he's trying to help us figger it out.  In the meantime -- please post any hassles you have so that maybe he can fix things for us.
