Youtube seems to attract total dimwits to their Comments page. Neat video.

This video was done in the four days following the World Finals. The black signs with orange markers belong to Mike Cook's Land Speed Events company. It was pretty cool what with full on craft services and all the special stuff. The course was set over on the International track, 6 miles, no timing equip. The PR guy, Tim, told us that there will more than likely never be three of the same model of these $400K cars in the same place at the same time like we saw on the salt.

We all got a ride after the shoot was over.

Knowing Sir Andy as well as we do (well enough that he might vaguely remember Slim, and probably would remember Nancy) - I'm confident that the scenes of him talking while driving were made at some good/high speed. His cool under pressure abilities are well-known.  A good choice for the ad, for sure.  Interesting that a starter was used - but no doubt that bit was in there for the eventual viewing audience.

Jon;

You may remember that Andy Green, his then-girlfriend, and Colin Bond (the push vehicle driver) attended the Salt Talks the year that JCB ran for the diesel streamliner record. I met him around the JCB pit and invited him to the Salt Talks as a measure of LSR hospitality and was surprised that they actually showed up. All the JCB crew were very nice people.

Pause the the video and you may recognize the starter as Mike Cook, w/2 club hat. All the people in blue and black shirts are a part of the LSE team.

Stability control and airbags with integral rollcage and reactive seatbelts, plus they were track tested in low traction/high speed conditions.  Much like all cars.

Some MFR's require you take a performance driving school prior to delivery.

I wonder if Bentley required Sir Andy to take such a course? :roll:

If you can afford the Bentley you can do whater you want. Kind of like the wealthy gent I know of that was at Bell buying a couple new choppers. He told the rep that he would only buy them if they taught his right hand man how to fly them. Rep asked RHM what qualifications he already had.............none. They sent him to school on how to fly the bird :-D

Not sure.  You'd have to ask him if they let him play first on their track while back in the UK.  That would be normal.

Even I call Andy just that ...... Andy ...... as he may be a wing commander and hold an OBE but he he isn't knighted. Nor is his boss on BLOODHOUND SSC Richard Noble.

Some Brits use the addition of 'Sir' to a persons name as either a joke or a cruel slur.

He is a Bentley Mulsanne Visionnaries (whatever that may be) so I am sure he will have been to the factory to enhance is skills, even after racing on circuits in a Radical Sports Car this year and taking an ARDS course to be licenced.

His article in the Sunday Times last weekend (print version only I believe), says he was at 190 mph whilst talking to the camera, in a car that has the full range of modern driver aids and safety equipment (as others have noted).

If you have seen his Thrust SSC runs with double chute failure after going supersonic or the JCB dieselmax run where boost on one engine starts to drop and he has seconds to recover it and get the back up run completed you will know that multi tasking - doing and talking - is something he finds remarkably easy to deal with.

There were three of the same model. A really neat little gold coupe showed up one day, didn't run and left with a journalist behind the wheel. I don't know the model name of the coupe.
