I'm starting a new thread - for stuff that is Bonneville-related but not necessarily from a certain event. For instance -- these two items that I got from John Szalay earlier today. You might remember him - he and his wife Brenda attended a few salt events 8 or so years ago. He's now at home dealing with some health issues - and can't find time even to participate on the Forum - - but he says he does look at it when time allows. This morning, anyway, he sent these two items from the December 1951 issue of Popular Science. I've stored them on the SSS photobucket site, and will be glad to store other photos and stuff there, too. Send it to me and please - give attribution. That is, tell me where you got it, be it a magazine or directly from a photographer. I don't want to get in trouble with copyright issues.
First -- a streamliner bike. Just one photo, but it shows a bit of the construction, and the text gives more good information about 'liners of the time.
Then there's this article on a "bellyflopper" bike. Whoo-boy, I don't think so. Not that it could run these days, what with the exposed chain(s) and the other issues that it sports. Nonetheless -- take a gander.
Remember, if you've got photos that would fit in this part of the Forum - you're welcome to post them or send 'em to me for posting (in case the file size is too big to go directly onto the Forum).
