FIM licensing
« on: April 21, 2006, 03:54:26 PM »
Just got all my stuff for running FIM at Bub's and have to say they really make you jump through some hoops. Must send in multiple pictures of bike--faired and unfaired, and of the "safety points"??? a passport sized pic of me, pics of all y riding gear,I need to get a physical and because I am over 50 they want a stinking treadmill stress test, and you must have a copy of the results in hand at the event??? Have to have your signature on the liability waiver notarized, etc etc etc----- :?:
Bonneville 2001,2002,2003,2004,and NO stinking 2005,DLRA 2006, next?
Well, sure can't complain about 2008--6 records over 200 and 5 hats from Bonneville,Bubs, and El Mirage for the team!

My FIA license was done on the Salt the day of the attempt and they took my picture.
Sometimes important rules are for no more purpose than to make the rulers important.
The hard card came in the mail a few weeks later and the Certificate for the record not to long after that.
Streamlining is good for more things than cutting through the air.
It is a real modern dilemma for some that common
people share so much information so easily.
Can anyone see where there might be a problem ?

I recall a FIA license test at World Finals a few years ago. The FIA rep was from a different association than BNI. He, Mike Cook, the driver, a doctor(Anesthesiologist), and I met in a motor home. The doc took the driver's pulse and annouced he was good to go.

Seems there are more isssues in LSR than just with the SCTA.

As I noted in previous posts the
"the FIM has its problems" you should have been there for all the problems I had running in France back in the early 1990's.  It does make you appreciate the way SCTA/BNI handle your entry.

Pray for them.

While I am no doctor, a reasonable medical standard would be a good idea.
In the case of the FIA/FIM and the other stuff a Colonic Irrigation or at least a Laxative seems indicated.

The FIA and FIM are governing bodies with around the world representation (by national clubs) and vast memebership numbers.  So from the centre the rules are established - in this case to make sure a driver or rider is fit to hold a licence.  They are so large that any person known in say France will probably not be known in Britain.

SCTA/BNI etc. are a US club organisation that is of a size that probably every driver or rider is known to the 'management' by personal reputation if not by sight & first name.

Its just a matter of scale that makes it so much fun (LOL) to run to International procedures.

But they always say .... "If it was easy, it would not be worth doing".

THE RESULT WILL BE OBVIOUS

"When the rulers don't consult the players the result is predictable."
"When push comes to shove and pull gets to be a jerk those results are predictable also."
"Undo influence will always produce distastful results."
I think I see a pattern.
 Has anyone else noticed ?
