Can anyone in the Chicago area deliver two engine blocks to us at Speedweek?

Nancy and I are driving to St. Louis, MO this Friday (leaving home Thursday afternoon) - and theoretically could help get them from Manteno to somewhere like Effingham or such.  It'd be some out of our way, and we don't have the luxury of lots of spare time (her brother is getting married and the party starts Friday evening).  I would ask for a couple of bucks for the extra fuel for the few extra miles - but really, we don't have enough time to drive them all the way to Benton.

Figure out something and I'll see if we can do it.  Oh, yeah -- we'd have to drive in the pickup, not the Subaru Impreza - but that's no big deal.  The diesel truck gets danged good mileage on the highway - something like 22 mpg.  Your fuel charge won't be more than say - $350 or so.  Maybe less. . .

I think it's too much to ask of the the gentleman in Benton, but maybe he'll respond.  Yes, I'd be happy to give you gas money, plus buy you some beer, tacos, or huevos on the SALT!  Regardless of whether it works out or not, THANK YOU!

Does Troy have room on one of his rigs to bring them?

I've asked, but they said the trailer will be full.  Not sure I'd want rusty old Dodge blocks mingling with my million dollar race car either

Wouldn't it be cheaper and less headaches to just have them shipped by a commercial carrier?  I just sent two Indy car blocks to Pennsylvania from California on a pallet last week, and it cost $165 and some change.  If this is a rout you might want to explore PM me.  Tony
