GAS COUPE FRAME AND SUSPENSION
« on: March 10, 2006, 03:33:37 PM »
My question is about the stock frame spec in the rulebook. Can you add different suspension to the stock perimeter frame? I have a 53 stude that has the original frame with an early ford straight axle added. Really want to run  classic gas coupe with this car rather than altered. Since the original rails are intact, does the frame meet the spec in the book? How about adding mustang II rack and pinion? Both suspensions add a crossmember but keep original frame intact. Hoope someone can help with this.

We run Mustang II steering and Ebling Engineering A-arms with a custom designed and built front end. The back is Chassis Engineering 4-link rear suspension with a Ford 9" rearend. The frame rails are stock 1938 Chevy Business Coupe. Our car runs in the Vintage Gas Coupe class and has been inspected at both El Mirage and Bonneville and is a legal car.
