ZR rated tires
« on: December 03, 2011, 05:08:28 AM »
Does anyone know who manufactures 16 inch ZR rated tires?  I've searched the internet and forums and only came up with Dunlops which they no longer manufacture.  I will be running in the 1350 M/PG class but won't even come close to the record speed.

Any of the Dunlops you find will be pretty old. They discontinued them quite a while ago. The Avons in Joe's link are the last ones I've found. You still might want to message the seller and get a date code on the tires.  I got an Avon about a year ago and it was only 6 mos old when I got it. Good luck

If you to an Ebay search for ZR-16  you will see several different brands including Avon, Metzler, Continental and Bridgestone.

What frame are you running these tires in? A 150/80 is the largest tire you can fit in a sporty swingarm stock. It will just barely fit.

Running a 1997 Harley Softail frame. Thanks to all for the info, I'll start checking Ebay & dates.

Doesn't matter what speed you run. The record speed of the class determines the tire rating.
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.
