At the Edwards AFB air show in 2005, I watched an F-16 pilot do an outside loop. Col. Simpson, standing next to me said
"that really hurts". Jesus, I guess so!!!!

A few years ago I got suckered into a bet with an F-15 Jockey that he could either make me pass out, or puke within 10 minutes of take off. I had no problem with the +8G turns (Got a little fuzzy but no black out.) or the zoom straight up to 30,000 feet... It was the parabolic arch at the top that got me. Does anyone know what Oatmeal looks like when it's floating weightless? Cost me 2 bottles of John Walker, and $100.00 bucks for that ride. Oh yea... and the savage scorn of the Crew Chief when we got home.  :-D

Guess he may surprise us yet by wheeling out a completed car but the last I heard was a rumour early last year of plans for a twin-engined car. True or not I have no idea. Guess that no firm news means that it's the usual situation. To quote NASA - no bucks, no Buck Rogers.

And do we have an update?  If not, does anyone have an idea when we might know more?

Perhaps Mr Breedlove himself could be invited to join and give us a teaser of what he's up to.

You can't keep a project like this secret for this long.  Im guessing it
sounded like fun, but never got off the ground.  Anyone, anyone?
Mr. Breedlove, if you are out there get on the computer, it's cool.

Anybody want to guess who will top the current mark?

ski123 said:  "...Anybody want to guess who will top the current mark?..."  And I expect he's asking about the top speed.  Well, didn't I see an article yesterday about the Bloodhound -- saying they had so far raised 100 million Rand (or was it 200 million)?  A rand is about 11 cents US these days, so that says that $10 - 20 million US is in the project so far.  That number alone puts them in a good position.

If we could find a way to get that much to the F104A project - - - Ed would be happy, to say the least.

Treit would generate an entirely new vocabulary for $20 Million.

He would compliment everyone involved.

Could wheels be made for a rocket sled to qualify as a land speed vehicle? Does someone have to be in the vehicle to qualify?

I do realize this somewhat circumvents the spirit and intent but in the end its all relative.

The rules of record setting from all groups involved in certifing a record require a driver/rider.

The records most people on this board are interested in are set a specific venues.

dan,

Does the driver have to be a homosapien? If someone get a rocket sled Ill provide the chimp.. Possible could be entry into the 2 club? We can name him Murdock... Im sure with current advances in chimp training we can train him to push the eject button and the "Booster" button, Im not sure whomever is in there that they can steer it anyways. Of course I haven't been trained to put my dirty clothes in the laundry hamper that is 2 feet away, but that's a whole different graduate course. I was not willing to put in the training time needed for that task.
