Take your time.  I'm at the starting line, buffeting wind, no one here except a couple of officials, no 1610.  But not raining!

Still in town -- with a few stray raindrops and strong winds.  The clouds are a bit less threatening, but I gotta believe Kurt that there's no racing going on now.  We're heading out there in a few minutes (gotta get ice for the cooler first -- hope springs eternal that things'll get all better soon), and will add to his reports.  Also we'll take advantage of some downtime (if that's what there is) to go make the arrangements to have the triler re-wired while we're gone form Bonneville in the next two weeks.

Jon, I'm planning to stay here at the starting line most of the day.

It's 9:00, we just got here.  No one in line since there's a hold due to winds left to right at about 8 mph.(at the line)  Looks more like 15 mph in the pits.  Seems like many racers are bailing out so if the wind dies, it'll be laps.  Only a spattering of rain.

Stay tuned, boys and girls.  We'll update as the weather continues. :-)

Weather report from the salt: lousy.
At 8 am the sky was completely cloudy with moderate winds....the sun was shining thru holes in the clouds (crepuscular rays of sunlight, 1st photo) and things looked uncertain.

10 minutes ago the wind calmed to almost nothing and the 2nd photo shows a line of clouds that seemed to be moving north with clear skies following.

As I was editing the photos, the wind has picked up to around 25-30 mph with a few drops of rain falling every once in a while.  The temperature feels like it's dropped by 10-15 degrees and all in all, it ain't too good.  Nobody's even thinking about running (especially the USFRA officials) at this time.

You damn betcha.  We'll be here for the coverage as well as for nancy -- who'll be running the 250 Turbo Ninja.  Take a look at her on the poster./shirt.

On the whole, being on hold at the salt is better than putting out brush fires back at my world headquarters office in Webster Groves

Although it's still somewhat cool and windy, the record return vehicles have been released and are just now pulling up to the staging lanes.

Here's a shot of the land rush leaving impound.  Stay tuned for racing updates.
