To all those lucky chaps going down under, you might consider taking
a few extra folding chairs with you. It seems that they don`t have such
devices in Oz. Everyone pictured is sitting on a upsidown bucket.
You could trade folding chairs for beer, they seem to have plenty of beer.
Are the buckets upsidown because of where they are at?
PJQ- I would sure like to hear more about that 1955 scooter you pictured!

".......Beer will get you through times of no chairs much better than chairs will get you through times of no beer".......dunno if that was C&C or the FFB's

...the first year I went we had a mix up with who was taking the H2O....we traded a six pack for 25 litres of water    ...the price goes up later in the week especially if it's Melbourne water

I'm sketchy on the technical nitty-gritty. Should get our German photojourno mate Frank to respond. He spent time with the owners after Speedweek 05. At the moment he's staying at Dr. Goggles spooky lair. Not sure whether Frank's done a piece on this bike yet. He writes for Brit and German veteran & classic mags.

Anywho, the bike is a factory built LSR machine with a streamline body. Supercharged, the mythical third Vincent with a factory blower (I'm not a Vincent nutter, could be wrong there). 1955 would make it a Black Lightning (Armstrong shocks)? Same year the factory closed?

There was a crash in cross wind during a run and it was moth-balled for decades. Restored recently, it's been to the salt twice, running 112mph last year (the faring wasn't ready, it ran naked - maybe fully clothed this year).

The owners value their privacy.
Last year Frank and I were constantly drooling over it, by the end of the week they'd warmed to us a bit.

Regs,
PJQ

He had too much sugar after his dinner. This was done as he was describing the trip to OZ after he had received his achievement award at the Bonneville Northwest Banquet, Saturday, 18 Feb.
Actually, he's harmless but it's nice for you Auzzies to know whats coming in the Yankee assault.
If he makes one beer last all day, he's recycling it.
Be certain to send him back. I still have a score to settle with him.

PJQ- thanks for the info on the Vincent. There was a gentlman here in
the states that used to run a black shadow on fuel back  in the late
70`s at the drags. Probebly the most awsome scooter I have ever
witnesed run down the track. It was called The barn job.
No trans, 100% nitro, and a skinny rear tire. Talk about holding a tiger
by its tail! Simply awsome.

That was Clem Johnson's "Barn Job" that had been competitive in Top fuel since it was built all the way through the late 70s. It evolved into a road race slick, wheelie bar, and even a blower with the nitro before they finally quit with old age.
It was ridden by Jim Leinweber that was no spring chicken himself. If you saw him run in the 70s and 80s , I directed those events.

ENGLISH is an expression often used to describe warm beer or a little power applied to a movement.
It is not a real precise unit of measure but you will know it if you get it.
Lack of appropriate chill and diariea are the best indicators.
