This is what is called a promo article - advertising designed to look like legitimate news. Best kind of advertising a company can buy, because people believe it to be unbiased truth.
Car and motorcycle companies have been doing that since not long after Gottlieb Daimler invented the automobile.
I remember years ago when Honda came out with 4 valve engines in their motorcycles. Their ad guys discovered the term "Pentroof" had never been trademarked. Honda trademarked it and prominently marked it as such in all the ads in an obvious attempt to take credit for the invention.
Automotive ad men lie almost as much as politicians. I have no doubt that fact led directly to the invention of the stopwatch.
