As the volunteer in charge of the portable toilets -- yes, I'm that "someone" that can tell you the name of the vendor*.  Now that you know that I can -- would you like to know who it is?  And if you're going to order one (or more) for private use -- get in touch with me for contact information.  Email or PM is fine, either way.

-funny story.....

I worked in radio in Reno for Lotus Broadcasting for a number of years. I left Reno in '02 for Portland. When I was at Lotus I worked with a guy who had may of the same duties in promotions/on air as I did and we formed a strong friendship. This person is named "Mike the Janitor". He (MTJ) moved to SLC a few years ago and now works for the very company that services the potties at SW.

To make a long story shorter, basically my friend and I will be able to meet again after 10 years by completely untreated circumstances miles from where we were in the middle of a salt desert.

Funny how poop happens sometimes.
And on that note.....if someone was to leave something funny (*funny NOT GROSS) inside the units....he would like the humor and he as a photographic "wall of fame" of the funny things people put in the units.

(*again, nothing gross)

We looked into a private porta potty last year, and the cost was prohibitive.

A quote I heard as I approached a port a potie on the salt.  A fellow was saying to his female companion as she came out of the potie.  " Well just do not look down in there."

I'm happily someone else got the dooty duty after me. Slim got the job. As I placed them around the assigned areas I would notice the next day some were not where I left them...Thanks to my trusty push bar in front of my truck they were returned to their proper place at break neck speed. At the time I was placing over 40 not counting the end and bend in the road. With 3 or maybe 4 courses I wonder how many Slim has now..........They don't move as much as I believe they are staked to the groundso as not to move in the night wind..........................

J.D, this year we're getting something like 68 regular and a few ADA (handicapper) units.  I tow them - no push bar on the truck.  We stake 'em down -- this year they'll be staked and tied -- but it's easier than when you had the duty -- we use hole drills to get the stakes into the salt.  Still -- taking one out to Ed and Cris (or whomever, these days) at the 6 1/2 mile is a long ride. . .  And there hasn't been a year since we've been doing the duty that we haven't been photographed towing one or two or three here and there around the salt.  That's why I carry a couple of tow straps in the truck.  Notice to all:  If you want to go for a potty ride - please be in touch with us.  For a slight additional fee we'll tow you with the door facing back so you can see where you've been.

I think Monte Warnock did time one of 'em one day -- but it was a few years ago.  And it wasn't a regular unit, but rather a handicapper one.  They've got bigger doors, and the wind blew one open.  It was raining as well as windy, and the rain made for a slippery course.  He SAYS () it went though the lights at about 7 - 8 mph.

As for how fast do we tow -- usually no more than about 15 mph.  Not only do we not want to make any blue spills (sure hope they're blue, not other colors) from splashing, but also we try not to wear the runners on the bottom of each unit - as might happen from too much speed while under way.

Didn't think I'd have an answer, didja?
