Texican (Jim) and I went for a little trip to see what the condition of the salt was in early May. We couldn't have picked a wetter day to do it. A rain storm had passed through the day before and another one was just hitting as we got there.
Things don't look too bad, other than the rain. No standing water and the surface appears pretty smooth...at least from Lands End. After seeing the 2 cars stuck in the mud, we decided that discretion was the better part of valor and chose not to go any farther. The tow truck driver unloading his big snow cat to go retrieve the cars was another little clue.
