Fabrizio T. you'll be glad to know that the Avanti race car Due Cento (car # 9431) is still racing at Bonneville and currently holds the record of 223.238 mph at Bonneville Speed Week in 2009. He races his twin turbo 299ci Studebaker engine at 30 lbs boost (1000hp) to obtain that record in D/CBGALT class. Of course this is not the original Due Cento that Andy Granatelli race with twin Paxton superchargers in 1962, Andy had about 550 hp and did a speed of 198mph at Bonneville, his engine was a R3 (304.5 CI) with the twin blowers, it was a one of a kind and not a production car. You can go on the SCTS-BNI,org web site for Speed Week 2009 and look up photos and speeds that the current Due Cento Avanti race car has done. The owner and driver of that car is Jim Lange from Illinois and he is also my engine builder for my Avanti Studebaker race engine. Take care, Dave

Fabrizio,
Breaking news!! The ORIGINAL R5 engine used by the Granatelli's in 1962 (198 mph) has been found. Go to "Studebaker Drivers Club.com" general discussions then click on "Shades of Bonneville". Pictures and story. Enjoy.
