Don't sell Lucas short!  Their products have been the inspiration for many things we take for granted today:  intermittent wipers, self-dimming headlights, battery disconnects, etc.

If you don't like Lucas electrics, and I don't!, then don't fly in a 747 they have Lucas electrics! Or at least the early ones did.

Ultimate fear was once described to me as being on the launch pad in the shuttle, all engines are lit, the instrument lights flicker and a small sign on the dash says electrics by Lucas!  :-o

Jeff

I take it that Lucas was not the answer to the room temperature question.  (My race car had Lucas ignition system and worked well).

Cold will kill a 'live beer', which is the type we generally like over here - but the youngsters today have taken to drinking lager beers that like US beers need to be drunk cold.

Malcolm:

Actually, "Lucas refrigerators" was the answer.   I think that although the Lucas system in your race car may be fine, millions of British car owners might have a problem or two with the Lucas equipment in their vehicles!

I always found that I could drive through rain storms all day with no problem, but if I was crossing a desert with a mirage of a lake in the distance my British vehicle would silently glide to a halt. The trick was to unclip the distributor cap and dry off the inside or spray everything with WD40. The result was a perfect running vehicle till the next illusion. :x :x :x
