In the last several years shops and suppliers are being raided by the EPA or Air Quality Boards. I say raided because they show up unannounced confiscate parts inventories, sales records and customer lists. For the time being they are fining shops and suppliers who sell and install devices that the EPA considers to alter the emission certification. So any vehicle with a VIN number and has had any type of OEM Emission Certification. At this time this seems to be including race only vehicles as well as street vehicles. This includes motorcycles.
With the customer lists the next wave is to serve fines on the customers that the EPA thinks installed these emission defeating components. Think about it, they fined JEGS $1.7 million. How many names do you think JEGS's data base has in it?
Personally I don't like signing anything. I prefer to stay out of the debate and fly anonymous. But to try and preserve our hobby for the next generation I signed the petition. If you are willing to research the topic and sign the more people reaching our elected representatives the better. Please look into it... if you can help I know of a million racers, speed shops, dyno tuners, race-week racers and LSR folks will appreciate it.
