Speed Week Video..........
« on: November 22, 2007, 10:26:05 AM »
The following is a link to a documentary Wheelstv.net made sometime after the 50th anniversary.  Maybe someone will know which year.  It is worth watching.  I found it looking for something else:

http://www.brightcove.tv/title.jsp?title=139021045&channel=8017&lineup=139020568

One thing that I didn't like was the announcer pronouncing Bonneville as Bonnie-ville.  Anyone else pronounce it that way.

c ya,

Sum

It seems like a nice little story, even if the narrator is an idiot :)

Looks like a promo to me, wonder if the full length is any better.  Anyone have it?

I have seen that video before. I think it's part of a broadcast of the old TV show, "Wild About Wheels", that went off the air at least 10 years ago.

Sumner - The video looks to have been shot in 1989 - it's got a shot of my brother and I's Monza dumping the chute at the 5 mile as part of a "three" runs for a Two Club entry record - Pat

Pat do you mean maybe 1999 as I think they mentioned the 50th Speed Week??

Thanks for the info as I want to put what year it was on the link on my site,

Sumner - We ran that car with Roy Fjastads small block in it from 1987 through 1990 - I stand corrected on the year - that's the way the car looked in 1990 when the record was set after blowing the engine sky high on the last of a three way record attempt in 1989.  Never saw video of the car in the lights before - cool. Sum, Jim referred to the 50th of SCTA, 1937 - 1987, three years ago, Looking at the cars, I guessed 89-90 so 90 it must be...
